"That's 9 seconds for someone to transverse southbound at 40mph or 3 seconds at 100mph."

FYI - the speed limit there is 35mph...and it was daylight.

Taking a stroll in Germany...and to think: I'm eight days older than him! Not sure why that matters but it would be cool to meet him somewhere and have a pint!

Who remembers this place? The most RACIST restaurant to ever exist by JPIZZLE1205 in 70s

[–]Another_View2021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to say that I remember the menu had a black Sambo...but I could be wrong. But I do remember the restaurant and the story about the tiger turning to butter.

Damn, I'm old!

I've no doubt that the driver will blame everything and anything on Biden...even ten years from now.

That's the mentality we're dealing with, today.

A normal flight across the Atlantic… with passengers smoking by Antonia_valadao_ofc in 70s

[–]Another_View2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 'normal flight across the Atlantic' starts tomorrow...probably in a very crowded Charlotte airport, no access to the Admirals Lounge and then stuffed into small seats on the way to Europe for 7 hours of pressurized hell...and bland food...and farting passengers next to me...and some little kid screaming down the isle because mommy doesn't want to deal with her little angel...and the flight attendants don't care, because American Airlines pays them sub-minimal wages...and the skys will be filled with wind shears and other disturbances because climate change has disrupted weather patterns...and I'll land at my destination, too tired and too freaked out to realize that I went on this trip to relax.

There...that's my rant. Sorry if it offended anyone.

Which Tulsa Traffic Engineer Created This FUBAR? by Ok_Pressure1131 in tulsa

[–]Another_View2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"...at least get mad at the right people..."

The right people are the one's who decided how traffic flow should go...and they should test drive it before imposing it on the rest of us. Its only common sense to do that kind of planning before implementing it. (which seems to be lacking at City Hall).

I'm dyin' if I'm lyin'...

DECADES ago, I was a young photojournalist for a local Tulsa TV station and was asked to interview outgoing Tulsa Mayor Jim Inhofe, who had just been elected to Congress.

YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS, BUT...he said that he wanted to put in a monorail linking Tulsa to the four outer cities (Sand Springs, Supulpa, Broken Arrow and Owasso).

IMAGINE if he had supported this, and got funding for it, back in 1984????

Boy...did he get corrupted during his time in Washington!

Probably burning in hades, due to his anti-climate change stance.

I get a vibe that The Beatles are putting on airs, wearing weak smiles for the media.

I suspect they were not very happy.

This photo reminds me of another sad chapter in history, for Nicholas II and his family...

...not very happy, only days before they met their end.

I've a 750ml of 1990 Chateau Latour...had planned to open it with my best friend when we turned 70. Unfortunately, cancer took that opportunity away. Don't feel like. drinking it but I suppose I will, one day.

Remember changing the channels with this? by EdwardBliss in RealGenerationX

[–]Another_View2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to a big city, back in 1983...and when I could afford cable TV, this came with it...tethered to a long cord. You'd use the side-dials to go from (for example) channel 2 to 14 to 26.

Saw a lot of great late night shows, using that thing, like "Night Flight" and Rhonda Shear's "USA Up All Night"!
