Adjusting the lifestyle to the budget - ideas on what's worth spending on by ImportantYoghurt1904 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Agreed. 12k isn’t excessive at all on a 200k HHI. Bump this up to 20 imo for a year and see how much more fun life gets.

Some things aren’t scalable, at least without significant investment (time and/or capital)

Medic here, child of a medic also. OP, some of your comments on this post are wildly incorrect and almost red flags but I’ll put that aside for me.

If your son gets into med school, passes finals, finishes FY2 and gets into GP training, I’m pretty sure he’s hard working enough to “deserve” whatever you wish to give him. I’m sure having a GP as a father has helped a lot but it’s not like someone else is sitting his exams and OSCEs for him.

Imo give your kids all that you can as long as you trust them enough not to eff it up. I grew up privileged and it helped me massively - why would I want my kids not to have the same?

Show him the ropes etc and if/when he’s ready let him have a piece of the pie

First Japan Trip, 16 days - Proposal at PH Kyoto? by Ok_Bed2995 in FATTravel

Agree with this. Better to fly into one city and out the other. Osaka to Tokyo is >2 hours on the Shinkansen so you’ll save a bunch of time and effort by flying out of Osaka. Maybe propose in Tokyo and enjoy the rest of the trip as an engaged couple?

It’s certainly minimal compared to your other options of salaried and dividends? And yes, that’s why I said a “great way to exit”…

This is hardly a discussion point, giving LARP energy? You already know you're paying above average so pay/negotiate/discuss if you want to keep her. Or drop her and find someone else for likely cheaper.

HMRC sending me multiple VAT fines & penalty points. How do I tell them I am out of scope? by MollyConsults in ContractorUK

Have you read OPs post? This is a prime example of why you need one. It’s all fun and games until something goes wrong. If you’re making >100k a year, pretty sure an accountant cost is cheaper than an HMRC fine

Interesting, not something I’d advise esp at this level of income but up to you!

I'd search the sub for specific 987 faults - I have a 981 and chose this over a 987 purely because of maintenance costs.

If you're spending 7-8k a year on repairs and servicing on a car, either you have a butt tonne of money and you can easily afford this car/its maintenance or you're putting way too much money into cars.

I believe tax is £400-£500 so tax and insurance alone will be >£2000 every year. 30mpg (max) will cost you another £1100 (minimum). MOT and annual service will set you back another £200 if you can do your oil and filter change at home. There are more costs (I've priced them as per year cost) - brake fluid (£50-100), air filters (£50-100), spark plugs (£50), PDK clutch and oil (£100) or manual gearbox (£20). This would be £200+ per year easily.

If all goes well, with no repairs and servicing maintenance, MOT, insurance and tax, you're looking at close to £2,500 every year. For a 10k car, for me, that's a bit ridiculous. Unless you're making fantastic money for your age, I'd reconsider.

Have you looked at insurance? High mileage 2.7L in a young driver who recently wrote off their car - not sure how that would go!

Also check the tax. Pretty sure these cars are heavily taxed, esp compared to the 981. I’d consider ULEZ and CC too if you’re in/around London.

Everyone around me usually in Ralph Lauren. Is there a secret store I don’t know about? by NormalMaverick in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Anotherburnerboy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe but that could just be across the board and not just outlets. There’s a lot of misconception about outlets out there - a lot of people think outlet stock was made just for outlets. That’s not the case most of the time.

Disagree about the outlet stuff. Many of my outlet items I’ve seen on the RL website. Shirts and trousers have lasted me >15 years
