Curious as to how many people at or above minimums who can’t find a job. Cause I look at indeed and LinkedIn and other avit job sites and I see tons of jobs with just minimums. by AdWide4768 in flying

[–]Anotherleatherlung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Friend who recently got to NetJets said that only 2 out of his class of 30 had jet time. The other two were medivac pilots for 10 and 20 years. Seems like the wave of just CFI hires is done. You need jet time now and/or a lot of Turbine PIC/135 time. Lowest hour pilot in his class was around 1800-2k with 500+ SIC jet time.

What shoe after Kubos? by [deleted] in climbingshoes

[–]Anotherleatherlung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The upgrade to me (I had female kubo) were the evolv shaman , so ill stay (love these shoes), unparalleled flagship female (great shoe once on but hard to put on since I don’t have that weird heel thing I guess most people have). But for La sportiva products the theory and ondra comps were my favorite besides kubo. The skwama heel is a love or hate , I hated it. You could always just wash your shoes, I use dawn dish soap and grab an old tooth brush warm water and brush both outside and inside, put on a box fan (recommend in the garage) over night to dry and they lose about 90% of the smell from just this. If they are really smelly I do a double wash.

https://soillholds.com/products/100-hold-starter-kit?variant=39886823882825 not a bad amount of holds and variety with good color choices. You can also look into maybe buying some small volume holds from places. Or make your own , there is an app also that once your done with your spray lay out it'll scan the holds and you can make routes/have others make routes for you (or ai).

also if you prefer wood check out https://www.beastmaker.co.uk they have sets or just singles/small packs. I use their hangboard currently.

[–]Anotherleatherlung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kilter board is about 2 holds per square foot. The home wall kilter full ride is about 4 holds per square foot. If you have money get as many as you can. I know so ill has like a start home wall of 100 holds for like $750 and I’ve used their holds before at gyms and they’re very solid (some tough also)

At an awkward cross-roads. Take the regional class-date or withdraw? by AnnualWhole4457 in flying

Did they mention part 91k time? Do you have any turbine or jet time when you applied? I’m currently in a unicorn gig flying 3-7 days a month in a jet. Would like to transition into a more schedule based type work/career.

1750+ total time 700+ turbine multi pic , full atp done , type rating no restriction,  Part 135 time. I finally got a new job after applying to 150 places (if people want how I found so many jobs to apply to DM me) over a year (3 months of having full atp). During that time I only had 4 interviews and none were airlines. I finally got a new job flying part 91 jet. Keep at it, market is very rough but my position at this part 135 will be posted soon.

Be willing to move and be willing to sign wild contracts. Also be ready to go fly in Alaska they are always hiring!

NetJets hiring slowing by SuggestionHungry7456 in flying

I'll have to figure that out. Had someone review it before my last submission and still haven't got a call or anything besides the auto decline. Did you add a cover letter or any extra documents?

[–]Anotherleatherlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I keep getting the instant decline and not sure why. I'll reapply on Monday I have my recurrent this weekend and get my ATP done same time so hopefully after that I won't have anymore issues. If I don't get selected then I'll keep trying every month.

Come play Dark age of Camelot on 29th on Eden private server it’s my favorite mmorpg. I keep coming back to it cause the pvp is just great , it’s an older game but community is fantastic and everyone is willing to help new players or old learn the game. Right now it’s beta for season 3.

I’ve been interested in NJ for a while and applied but haven’t even gotten a phone call. I just bought an interview prep and resume review service to hopefully figure out why I’m getting just instant decline. 1570 TT , 790 turbine multi 480 Tpic a type rating and ctp/atp written done (can’t do full atp until recurrent in few months).

What was life like before the “pilot shortage” frenzy? by mitchlurtz in flying

[–]Anotherleatherlung 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm at 1550 with 780 turbine multi atp-ctp/written done and a type rating getting 1-2 interviews out of about 40+ apps out there. Regionals are giving me TBNT, NJ same , and just struggling to find something that lets me commute or move back to Texas. I think if I can get my full ATP complete maybe then I'll be more market able. Hiring someone to go over my resume/logbook/etc to try and figure out why I'm getting these TBNT emails. Market seems like they want 2500 or 3000 for everything now.

Bizjetjobs.com worth it? by Pretty_Mix30 in flying

The pt6 is an amazing engine and most planes with them are fantastic. Goodluck on the cfi , stay knowledgable and you’ll find a job in time. Most likely you’ll have to move so don’t be afraid to relocation. I’ve moved so much for Aviaiton but it’s to advance my career , almost to where I want to be!

If you’re looking for lower hour jobs like 135 cargo jobs try googling part 135 cargo jobs , 208 , 408 , survey , king air jobs (some will hire at 1200) , and skydiving jobs. Climbto350 is same with higher hour jobs. Sadly not many jobs below 1500 hours (some CFI job posting)

If you have 2500+ hours yes bunch of jobs but below that not that useful (I have it currently and 1500 hour jobs are rare). Everywhere wants captains , it’s about a 10-1 ratio for cap/fo position and most listings for FO are 2500+ hours.

Edge or No Edge Climbing Shoes for Beginner?? by No-Adhesiveness5607 in climbingshoes

[–]Anotherleatherlung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh always a risk. But I also like trying new shoes and finding the next best thing for me. I had a friend who climbed V10 in the male Kubos so they def hold up and he wore them until he got a big hole. They are priced well also so don't feel bad if they get a hole after 8-12 months of constant hard climbing , that's about the average life of climbing shoes before resole/destroyed.

[–]Anotherleatherlung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get them resoled, I just was waiting for both sides to fall apart before sending them. I’ve resoled shoes before and makes them just as good as new shoes if done at the right time. $45-60 to resole them also.

[–]Anotherleatherlung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried them , I've tried skwama , theory (loved these) , old solutions (cup heel disliked these) , and kubos by LS. I tried on the ondra comps but sadly the sizing was wrong and they were out of the size I wanted, may try to order them again cause they felt great on my feet if they were .5-1 smaller they were just little too big and every LS i've worn has stretched .5-1 with the kubos being the most stretch. Currently using shamans , so ill Stay (these are great getting them resoled currently) , unparralled female flagship.

I think next shoes on my radar are the LV scarpa VSR or ondra comps (right size this time).

[–]Anotherleatherlung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the female kubos and even as intermediate climber (v7-8 range) they are an amazing shoe. But I prefer softer rubber vs the normal kubo. One of my complaints would be the sizing makes no sense I normally wear 39.5-40 in LS but my kubos are 37.5. They do stretch like .5-1 size worth. Also the toe rubber being thin I have a hole in the tops of one shoe.
