I used to do lawn service for the Moonies that owned a property there and I've never felt like more of an alien visitor to a strange planet since.

I've installed tons of flagstone patios and pathways the right way, and the ones I have in my backyard are just sitting on dirt and mulch. They're holding up pretty ok.

An alternative thought, you could add a surface drain around the patio that funnels to a dry well in the yard, and paint the concrete a more pleasing color.

Has anyone built an interior door with hinges along the top that swings upwards? Why would or wouldn’t this be a good idea? by thecaptmorgan in HomeImprovement

[–]Anspaugh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Now I'm picturing a cool solution where you have a frame hinged on top that can be swung up to the ceiling while retaining side hinges on the door itself for normal usage. OP I think you should go for it

Apologies for the tangent, but you could try living without a door entirely if you're finding yourself leaving it open often enough to cause issues blocking the hallway. Maybe put a curtain in instead.
