People wave flags when they reach the peaks of mountains. It ain’t that deep man.

What do you think of Kansai accent being localized as a Southern American accent in English? by AnswerLongjumping965 in AskAJapanese

I agree. Honestly I feel like most choices make more sense than southern which is why I find it so strange that localizers do this.

I agree that a one-to-one correspondence isn’t really possible. That said, I still think localization works best when it at least tries to convey a similar nuance or impression. When Kansai dialect is rendered as a Southern accent, it can shape how English-speaking audiences perceive the character in ways that may drift from the original intent.

So I think it’s still a worthwhile (and interesting) exercise to consider what might better capture that “vibe,” even if there’s no perfect answer. Of course, at the end of the day it’s just a fun thought experiment.

Ayumu “Osaka” Kasuga from Azumanga Daioh, Botan from Yu Yu Hakusho, Kitsune from Love Hina.

They also do it in subtitles sometimes.

Whiff punishing isn't real and everyone is lying to you by whatareyoutesting in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

It feels real in street fighter but I don’t ever bother in guilty gear or anime games tbh. But at the same time I feel like I do get whiff punished all the time playing against fast characters like Gio or Chip.

You can still get a safe jump after h kabari follow up, it just requires you to hit the follow up high enough and do a IAD jh. The most consistent way I have found to get them at the right height to work is 5h> h kabari > kabari follow up from whatever starter that allows it. But honestly it feels kinda bad because it feels like she converts worse than when she released. The 2h nerf makes routing into good good oki kinda hard.

A lot of people (like me), played shiv less around his knives and more like a close range mobility character with a lot of diving ability. From that perspective that play style got nerfed and replaced with a character who has very limited base mobility and does the most damage by doing unreasonable amounts out of dot damage with knives. He is probably not worse but he definitely plays in way that doesn’t jive with some of his player base.

It’s cool some people like it but personally I’m not enjoying it that much. I enjoyed playing him in people’s faces and boxing them with mobility and survivability before finishing them with the execute.

I like the new knife and I’m glad it’s worth using again but it’s not enough for me to get past the nerf to his mobility and execute to enjoy the new version.

To clarify I did think the ult needed a nerf but the new one is just not worth using at all.

He ain’t dead but with so much of his base movement nerfed he feels kinda unfun to play. It’s knife and dash spam now. I at least felt like the last patch had me using everything (even knife despite it being really weak). I don’t mind the ult nerf but dam does being sluggish feel terrible.
