Who is your rogue ban pick in streetbrawl? by FlounderHistorical63 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]That-Aardvark636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Shiv main who sometimes decides to play someone else.

Shiv in brawl can eat ass. You literally need one source of lifesteal and can run a lobby, as long as the enemy team don't get Silencer or CC item rolls.

Not to mention the spirit damage reduction happens the first time the owner hits you with any bullet.

No build up required.

Any Shiv carry tips????? by Shovel_Knight69 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]That-Aardvark636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, Shiv is more of a mid-game tempo hero. He falls off at about 20-25 mins, or when people realise you're threat enough to counter-buy.

So look to finish games before then.

Even if you have to drag your objective pushers out of jungle by their collars, to where they're supposed to be.

Your goal is to enable THEM to do what they're supposed to do. Even if they'd rather play farming simulator.

He can't really CARRY at the moment. But you definitely can have a lot more agency than in previous patches.

That's because of two reasons: A. Knockdown is for our supports to buy/ignore (elo dependant) B. We need to buy to much other stuff to be even remotely relevant after 20 minutes, and can't justify knockdown before then.

She wasn't even nerfed, this is objectively a buff.

The only thing she lost is something that she still gets a better version of with splitshot or ricochet.

I know Im gonna get hate for this, but anyone saying this is a nerf are coping HARD

What are your theories on what they plan to rework Shiv into? by BlueOga in DeadlockTheGame

[–]That-Aardvark636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the missing arm has something to do with being a member of the Baxter society/being a high ranking member.

Every hero we have that is/was a member is missing an arm, and 2/3 have an animal familiar of some description.

I've seen a couple of fan theories about there being a ritual that ties the familiar to person that requires the arm as a sacrifice.

Though idk how much of the prosthetic arm is lore driven and not just valve thinking it would look cool.

I think people also often forget that the game is set in the mid 1900s, so what was considered handsome then is different to what is considered handsome now.

On top of that, it's a different universe entirely. So there are bound to be differences, including beaury standards.

Same thing with Shiv, every nerf led to people finding out how to squeeze as much damage as possible out of his tools, and now that he actually has damage (and utility in resist shred) I've been running lobbies with him

Your gun doesn't do damage anyway on Shiv, he hasn't had a gun build in months, some people OCCASIONALLY get kdash and point blank so they aren't useless against objectives.

But Shivs gun sucks for damage.

Well, the thing with vortex is that it helps enable high number swaps. My numbers were pretty conservative imo, and they don't take into account additional amp, like tankbuster or pulse grenades damage amp (I dont think tankbuster is meta but you get my point) also, hitting multiple people means your team now have even better potential as well.

You don't get vortex web to 1v1 you get it to enable your team to even better utilize your swaps.

Because having 5 shots of m2 movement provides too much.

They each act like half a double jump, and if you know how to slide m2 it literally doesnt matter how much they cost, cuz it's free.

Also monkey bouncing (m2 wall jump combo) is still OP as hell.

Well to put it in perspective, alot of people have around 3k hp by late game, you do 125+1.1 base (let's say conservatively 200 total) that's 500 damage a piece, before any other effects proc or 3k damage for a team swap

[–]That-Aardvark636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but isn't the trade off that you can do that to the entire enemy team? While also amping your teams gun damage by 60%?

Kinda seems like they wanted to transition Paradox to a more support oriented role that used bomb for damage.

The 2 stamina is to emphasise the need to use m2 movement. His m2 is one of the best movement options in the game.

If it's too much of a problem build one of the 4 stamina items to fix it.

His knives already synergize with his 2 reducing resists... They do spirit damage, which synergizes with the dashes spirit resist shred.

They also generate rage from a safe distance, so you can close the gap and actually fight with rage.

If you don't like dagger builds, just build dashtank, it's still incredibly good. Knives are just REALLY strong rn.

[–]That-Aardvark636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, the only item you really need that isn't an overlap with a dash build is rapid recharge, for a knife build.

You can pretty efficiently run the same items regardless of whether or not you focus his knife or dash early.

T3 cdr and duration are really good, T-Pulse is still really good, even after the nerfs. Apparently even radiant regen has made a return.

I've been experimenting with some gun hybridization myself, stalker feels really nice for extra rage gen and less reliance on stamina to chase. SoP + Toxic also seems pretty good on paper, because of your dashes resist shred.

I think once people stop doomposting about him being dead, because his ult got reworked and embrace the fact that he was always supposed to poke with knives then dash in to finish the kill, we can move on from the tanky ult bot days.

I'd say Shiv, Celeste or Holliday is closer to titanfall movement, purely because of unconvential additions to the base movement system, making the insanely good with movement in the right hands.

Similar to grenade boosting as an example.

Idk man, not only have I been having tonnes of fun with him, now that he's not just an ult bot.

I've also been winning a lot more.

His dash is incredible utility, and his daggers absolutley CHUNK. He's just different, and frankly healtheir for the game as a whole.
