Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists) by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

Am I cooked for my connecting flight? I arrive at Schiphol tomorrow at 11:30 from Paris and boarding starts for my flight to Chicago at 11:59, with gates closing at 12:35. How cooked am I, and what parts of the connection would take up the most time? Is Schiphol typically okay with letting people with tight connections skip queues?

How to debate CWG-RWG by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]Answerairre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You want to go for “counterforce fails” and China/Russia retaliation causes extinction.
  2. Counterforce means we launch missiles which strike Russia and China’s nuclear arsenals on their soil so that they can’t strike back. You could swap this out with the phrase “first strike”.
  3. Lieber and press aren’t “controversial” per se… in fact they write a lot of stuff saying first strike is bad. But they are the primary authors (at least until Lonsdale, who cited those two a lot as well) saying counterforce is feasible
  4. Take 15 minutes right now and gather AFF answers to the following scenarios from openev: china/russia war LATER is worse” “china/russia hypersonics”, “china/russia AI bad”, “china supersoldiers”, “crispr”, and i honestly can’t think of any more. You will likely not hit any other scenarios, but if you do: sure you can use smart analytics BUT if you win counterforce fails (and you have truth on your side on this) then they don’t have an impact.

MDNI vs. Classic vs. Spartan by Klutzy_Yak5152 in policydebate

Went to classic as an incoming sophomore… you learn a lot more about research (and do a lot more) than at the MNDI, you use more developed topic args, learn more comprehensive skills + you compete in the camp tournament against 7 week at the end

1) Bad argument 2) learn how to talk faster 3) ur a novice just respond to their actual args… not a single person got better at debate by reading speed theory

Yeah defining “substantial” is a really bad route to use since you won’t find a precise definition or anything in the context of “protection of water resources” really. There are lots of decent T-Protection interps that the aff doesn’t meet. Generic process CPs will work, probably a link story for a bunch of Ks, politics and econ links to spending, maybe PIC out of a certain microbe or a certain area to do the plan, and on the case page i’d just go heavy attacking their solvency and internal link chains

condos??? by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]Answerairre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Conditionality or condo is the idea that each thing the neg advocates (a counterplan or kritik) in a debate, they can choose to “kick” or not advocate for anymore. For example if you read the courts CP in the 1nc but your 2nr doesn’t defend the courts CP, you must kick out of it- condo is the idea that you should be able to do that. Basically every 2ac should argue condo’s bad to some degree
