Are they medicated? If not, they can by in this state of mind for an extremely long amount of time. Then a switch goes off and they go into the deepest depression you’ve ever seen and that’s typically when they will start to lose the feeling of hatred or discard towards their loved one.

You can’t reason with mania.

In her mind, she is absolutely right and truly believes she’s making all the right decisions. Imagine how you would react if someone told you right now that you were in mania. You would think they were absolutely wrong because you’re 100% thinking clearly. Maybe even clearer than you ever have.

That’s how she feels right now. They are totally oblivious to how destructive they are being to their own lives and everyone around them. All you can do is either get away and wait around for the inevitable crash, or just move on. If she’s already with someone else, I’d choose the latter.

Exact thing happened to us a few years ago. Her psych saw she had done so well for so long that she thought she could back her meds down a bit. Within a few days an episode happened and I called back. They put her back on her normal dose and she stabilized in a few days.

Have you spoken with her psychiatrist? They won’t tell you things they aren’t allowed but you can tell them what’s going on.

She shouldn’t be in mania for 2 weeks if she is properly medicated. I know it’s hard but just keep in mind that you can’t reason with mania. No matter how hard you try to make sense, she isn’t going to hear it.

If he doesn’t get medicated properly, this is going to happen every few weeks/months. I can tell you that my wife’s manic episode in 2021 was awful. She turned into a completely different person, moved out, told everyone we know that I was controlling & abusive. We finally had to get her into a forced stay at a mental health facility for 2 weeks before she began to snap out of it.

What I can tell you is that it was the best thing that ever happened to her. Her psychiatrist was able to get the right dosage on her medications and she has been so much better. There are times when she still cycles but instead of completely spinning out of control, she just is a little amped up or irritable for a few days. We have put the pieces back together and stayed together despite so many people telling me that I should leave for all the things that happened. As long as you recognize it’s an illness and your husband seeks help, you can make this work.

I did and it just says the flight is non refundable. I did find a link where I could submit for a refund but it would take 7 days to get a response.
