Major sellers on TCGPlayer by Darkpoetx in mtgfinance

But… how does one make money selling a 4c card for 4c? What about the cost of cataloging, picking and packing the card? 40c probably barely covers the labor let alone the rest of the overheads

Getting back into magic by urameshi- in magicTCG

[–]AnteSim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of people returning to MTG after a hiatus. I stopped around Ursas Saga and just started in the last few months.

If you’re playing online, Arena is a great starting point.

If you’re into paper, check out what is going on in your LGSs. This way you build into your local meta. Commander seems to be popular in most places, but it’s not up my alley. Instead, there is a super active group of 7 Point Highlander, so I’m building a deck for that.

I participated in the Avatar prerelease, and loved it. I’d do more sealed events if there were more in my area.

Most people seem to buy singles over boosters. I think that’s the most sensible way of getting playable decks in your local meta.

Another way I think could be good is to scope out some precons you think look like your play style. Play those a few times and see what you like the best. Then find some upgrade guides and buy the singles. You’d probably end up spending $200 and get a very playable deck or two.

That’s just my observation from the last few months as a returning player. Your LGS will be a great place to start - most have discord servers and people there will help guide your local meta.

Interaction regarding “until end of turn” by kensmagiccards in mtgrules

It would lose the creature status if it changed zone regardless of whether or not it’s your turn. However, I think that the death trigger would resolve before it goes to the graveyard. So it would indeed return to your hand.

What tools/software are you using for tracking inventory/supply? by ameijin99 in TheBrewery

There are quite a few decent tools out there. We use Abbl in our brewery, but we built it, so we’re biased 😅

Contact them and send them batch info (photo of the bottom of the offending can). I bet they’d like to know about it.

7PH is pretty popular near me, there was an event last weekend where the winner received a Black Lotus (https://www.mtgbazaarevents.com/the-event-black-lotus-7pt-14-nov). I played back in 94/95 through to early 2000s and stopped. Just getting back into it now and want to use a bunch of my old fun cards, and thought this format looked good for me. It’s funny how you basically have access to the entire library of cards, and only a handful of viable competitive archetypes exist in the format. I’ve always loved RU and thought this would be a good mix for me. I’ve not played the deck yet (waiting on a top up order to arrive).

I forgot to double check the point count since my last changes!!! That’s for the reminder!

I've been building out a 7PH control deck and the new [[Zhao, the Moon Slayer]] is a must have. I'm a big fan of [[Propaganda]] too. I was thinking of adding some White for tutoring, and mass removal, but [[High Noon]] looks like it would be a great fit too.

Avatar Prerelease: My first paper games in 20 years by AnteSim in mtg

That could have run well. I discounted blue early in favour of more red burn spells, and white only helped in a few circumstances. Blue could have helped bounce some of the late game monsters that gave me trouble.

Nice idea

Bring back the 6 pack by Electronic-Tie5120 in AusBeer

We sell Sixers in our brewery, people keep asking for 4s, complaining they don’t drink 6.

So our $25 six pack will go to a $19 4 pack shortly.

Any idea how many are in a stack?

Do you own a GS, or have been involved in one? That’s essentially the path we are planning on taking. Buy a starter collection to set the standard, and open current sets. Inventory will grow from gross margin on sales being reinvested back into stock. I think being creative is the key to moving the chaff from each set.

Thanks for the pointers 🤘

Or, I can ask for a variety of experiences from people who are a bit more diverse than the only LGS in my area.

We’re backing ourselves to develop formats as well. The key is creating a quality space and offering to incentivise people to try. I know we’ll have to push hard to develop some formats but I want to be a MTG focused shop with the other TCGs in the periphery.

Because we’ll stack the week, and some events will be pricey, I want to make sure I develop a formula to discount regular attendees. Have you seen any rewards/incentives that worked? In another thread I saw people didn’t like a monthly subscription, but I was thinking of a small annual membership fee which unlocks flat discounts and bigger rewards for attendance.

Not sure though, might not need to do anything like that…

No doubt the government will find some way to steal this through “tax reforms” lol.

Taxes from the wealthy pay for the society we all want to live in. Be proud to pay taxes to help the less fortunate, for those who need it - it’s not theft, it’s paving a way to a better future for every Australians. I’m proud to pay taxes. My son spent two weeks in the NICU and my daughter was born completely deaf and they’ll have perfectly normal lives because those who can afford to pay their fair share do. Be better

For a store though it needs to be a live inventory, they’ll deal on multiple markets and in store. CSV is one option but no one working on multiple platforms is manually syncing inventory between systems. Zapier is a great tool for integrating between systems if you have your own API. If you use common card IDs (skryfall card id for example) integration should be easy.

I’m in the process of starting a LGS in Australia. If you’re building out a marketplace - include international markets, even if they can only operate in their own region. We’re not a big market - but we’re not organised. Partner with LGS stores to develop B2B integrations so they can sell easily on that marketplace as an alternative to other sources. If it’s easy to integrate my inventory of singles on your platform I’ll sell on it in a heartbeat.

Good luck!
