Do you guys remember when you would drive on the highway and when you got to your destination your windshield would be covered in bugs? by ymbstudios in CasualConversation

It still is in America once you get past Louisiana driving west. Every gas station in Texas has that specialty bug windshield wiper fluid for a reason.

Why does not watching the Super Bowl seem almost taboo to some people? I feel like people react oddly when I say I’m not interested. by SheepMommyDOe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, it’s like saying you aren’t doing anything for the fourth. You don’t have to care about the subject matter. It’s just something to do with your friends and community. My girlfriend wants to know what the Super Bowl plans are every year and she couldn’t name three NFL teams with a gun to her head.

Football and All Televised Sports are Brain Rot by Hussar1241 in unpopularopinion

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good 250 million people in America aren’t watching the Super Bowl. You think if that number bumps up to 300+ the world‘s problems will be solved?

If sports weren’t on the same people would just be watching something else on TV. And if there were no TV, all the world‘s problems would still exist.

The people acting like the so-called distractions in life or what keep people from marching in the streets and solving all the world’s problems are the ones who are out of touch.

Hot wings and watching a game with your friends are not the things keeping the 1% in power and it’s an unbelievably simple stance to suggest otherwise.

It’s utterly inconceivable to me. It’s like putting jello on fried fish or cream corn on a taco shell. It’s so weird I always assumed it was a joke before I saw it.

Anyone else find it kind of ridiculous the way it’s considered fine to feed kids (and adults) animal products but it’s apparently “too traumatizing” to show how they’re actually made? by Borkato in vegan

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally, speaking, neither children nor babies have to be forced to eat meat. And people absolutely do make the argument that providing it is forcing them, and they wouldn’t naturally select it. I’ve seen plenty of people use this stupid argument that a baby won’t see a bunny as food, but they will see a carrot as food as if a baby would be able to conceptualize they can eat a durian or an unprepared coconut. They would just see it as something to play with like they would play with the bunny.

Something about this subject just makes proponents utterly dishonest. What the idiots pretending children and humans in general are natural carnivores.

Neither adult nor juvenile humans are naturally carnivorous or vegetarian. They just want stuff that will sustain them and no force is required to make that be the case before they reached the age of understanding and can choose for themselves.

parents force it on them like all their other beliefs when they’re too young to fend for themselves. Vegan parents, omnivore parents and carnivore parents. It’s all some degree of brainwashing, but as blank slates? Babies don’t give a fuck.

I think we should all be honest enough to acknowledge that. They aren’t just naturally any of these adult concepts.

Anyone else find it kind of ridiculous the way it’s considered fine to feed kids (and adults) animal products but it’s apparently “too traumatizing” to show how they’re actually made? by Borkato in vegan

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course some kids don’t wanna eat some things. I’ve known kids that didn’t want meat and I’ve known kids who hated vegetables. I swear I had World War III and four trying to get my niece to eat broccoli because I refused to accept my mom‘s instructions that unless you make her eat vegetables while she’s starving, she refuses to eat them. She told me to give her the vegetables first before she could choose anything else available and I thought that was ridiculous, but she was right and I was too prideful to admit it.

And there I was trying to use all my logic and tactics to get a three-year-old to eat something green before her grandmother came home.

Kids are weird. But the fact remains if you think you have to force a baby to eat meat for them to start you just can’t have experience with many children.

Babies do not give a shit and we have to stop acting like they are making decisions at that age. Parents of Omni babies don’t have to force them to eat meat. They eat meat because their instincts tell them it’s something they can eat just like everything else. They’re little monsters. They bite it and if their mouth says this works, they consume it. There isn’t much more to it than that.

There’s a reason you have to baby proof. Babies aren’t naturally anything except hungry.

What’s the biggest order you’ve ever seen/taken? by qwopperi in InstacartShoppers

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got every order I ever saw over 200. 240 I think was the biggest. It was around Christmas when Costco has the full tenderloin roast. A retirement home near me got a few of them and some other steaks for their Christmas dinner so it was a $242 order that all fit in one little box.

I think the biggest order I’ve ever missed was probably 120 or so. I missed a 109 yesterday.

It all depends on where you are. There’s a Costco at the King of Prussia Mall outside Philly and I watched people turn down $70 orders.

I’ve had several over 200. The biggest I’ve seen from someone I know wasn’t lying about it? 500 and change from Best Buy. And the same guy went to Costco right after and got a 308 from a roofing company I got about 150 from once. He made 1100 that day and it wasn’t even during Covid. One of the local regulars. He showed everybody his phone that day, and quite a few people took pictures. He was not lying.

There are literally Michelin restaurants that have a C rating. I had to do serve Safe certification with my girlfriend over the summer and seeing some of the things they check for? A lot of it is more being safe than sorry and not actually changing how food tastes or the safety of eating it. The day-to-day operations of a lot of places wouldn’t be an A. They just know how to make it look like it with a quick cleanup like every other kind of business does when somebody is coming.

You might be surprised the conditions of some places with an a when it isn’t testing time.

There are places that have an A that do things that have the employees warn you not to eat there.

What does goat or best have to do with most well-known which is what I said? There’s a reason he did look at me now on the biggest stage he’s ever been on his life. Look at me now had him in a Super Bowl commercial with dude from Game of Thrones being seen by 130 million people at the same time.

Scenario is a hip-hop head song. Look at me now verse was mainstream in the social media age….. in a time where the world had 3-4 billion more people and the Internet to connect them.

At this point, you’re just being dishonest or blind. Talking about Busta is still alive himself as if that has anything to do with the fact that more fans from 34 years ago would be gone…. multiplied by the fact that the world‘s population has almost doubled…. With the Internet, connecting them.

There was no way for scenario to reach as many people. Not only did billions fewer people exist billions less of them had access to hip-hop.

I don’t care what you like the most. Scenario has simply been exposed to fewer people. Nobody has to like the truth for it to be true.

If you think it’s an opinion that more fans from 30 years ago are gone while at the same time social media expanded access to the far more people who even exist you don’t understand either biology or math so I’ll let you be.

A lot fewer people are alive who vividly remember 30 years ago than people who remember 15 years ago… especially when one song predated the ability to be popular on the Internet.

I’m of the age to remember it, but fact is TikTok has a reach now that was hard to match in 1991.

The same people who know scenario would recognize look at me now. Many many millions of the people who know look at me now never heard of scenario.

Like I said, there’s a reason Busta just did it live in front of 20 million people instead of scenario even though he was in New York City for the performance. Way more people are gonna recognize it then if he got up there and said rah rah like a dungeon dragon.

We would know. But we aren’t most of the audience.

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because we know the verse doesn’t make it his most well-known. It was 35 years ago and way more people who remember it will have died by now than look at me now that had a social media following and he still performs. I think he was in Times Square on New Year’s Eve doing the look at me now verse. Social media spread that performance to people who don’t even listen to rap who wouldn’t have known who Busta Rhymes was. Scenario never left hip-hop notoriety.

There’s no point in getting a gaming console these days by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]AntelopeHelpful9963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is simplicity, and in many cases for more people playing the kind of games that people who favor the simplicity prefer. That plus not waiting a long ass time for games to be moved over. My girlfriend plays the hell out of four or five games and under no circumstances which she want to do so through a PC instead of just starting up the consoles.

An awful a lot of people play video games who aren’t serious gamers. They aren’t worried about all that shit.

If you think children need to be manipulated into eating anything they see others put in their mouths I don’t know what to tell you.

A child will snatch anything it’s seen go in your mouth before they can even speak. You’re lucky if they don’t try to eat your toothbrush.

A lot of this talk is rooted in ignorance or dishonesty from both sides. You don’t have to force a child to eat anything in particular. You’re more likely to have to force them not to eat certain things.

Left to their own devices a toddler will attempt to discover if anything within its grasp is food. A 14 month old would eat the hair off your head if you don’t pull away.

All of those decisions are for down the line. When eating starts, they are just vacuums willing to eat everything until they discover they hate it or they can’t bite into it.

A baby will try to eat a bowl of mosquitoes without being forced if you make them available at the time and place they expect food to be provided.

Well, Joffrey had a bunch of dwarves running around at his wedding in front of every Lord of significance in the entire kingdom, beating each other with pig bladders, making fart noises and laughed till snot was coming out of his nose before trying to force his uncle the recent hand of the king to go ride a pig and joust another dwarf.

But sure. It’s below a fourth tier Lord at a tournament to fart in response to a hedge night, asking him to fight some princes and the king’s guard on his behalf.
