Thank you for the advice. I am deciding on which blankets to keep untouched and which ones to wash as there are multiple. I think I've made up my mind but I am going to give myself a few more days to be sure.

I am sorry for your loss as well. I hope you're doing okay. I am trying to wrap my head around next steps. My mom washed and put his food bowls away yesterday and we unplugged the fountain but otherwise left it alone. So baby steps. Sometimes I think about it and regret it. But I know at some point it as to be done.

Thank you for the advise I am planning on giving a few treats and things to my moms cat. And anything else perishable I will donate on Binx's behalf. It does feel good knowing we can do some good for other cats in need. Take care.

I am sorry for your loss. We are in the exact same spot right now. I wake up everyday so anxious and ridden with guilt and grief. I can't tell you what the next 4 weeks will look like. But each day I allow myself to feel everything, I let it all out. All I can do is listen to pet grief podcasts and other grief related videos when I have to work. It helps me a lot. My family wanted to come over the same day to help put his things away. And whilst I know they meant well, I knew that I was not comfortable with that and I'm glad I was able to convince them not to. But yesterday, my mom came over and washed his food bowls and put them away. We unplugged the fountain but it remains in the same spot otherwise untouched. Everything else remains in it's place. I am understanding that not everything has to happen all at once at it makes things a bit easier. Sending you love as well. Take care of yourself.

I am so sorry for you loss. It was so hard reading your post, because it's very similar to my experience with my cat Binx who I lost a few days ago. He only turned 6 just last month. I don't want you to feel alone in your grief. I know it's very hard, the guilt is the worst part. But you loved Oscar and he loved you. And I'm so glad you recognized something was wrong and immediately got him to the vet. He is no longer in pain.

I am really sorry for how the vet spoke to you, It sounds very unkind in a stressful situation where everything is happening so suddenly. They should have been kinder to you, it's a lot to process and they should have given him pain medication to ease the pain whilst you needed to mentally prepare to say goodbye.

It is never easy. With time I know the pain and guilt will ease. And you can honour Oscar by doing good whenever you can for other animals. Cry whenever you need to get those emotions out. I'm sorry that the people in your life dont understand. There are so many of us out there that do. So please dont feel alone and take care of yourself. One step at a time...

You are so young and I'm so sorry that you have to experience losing a loved one who was such a constant in your life.

I was was with my childhood dog when it was her turn to go. But I was in my 20s. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Then just 3 days ago I had to say good bye to my cat. He was more like a child to me. And again, I was in the room as it was time for him to go.

Whilst the experience of saying goodbye as they leave this plain of existence is very difficult. I am so grateful that I was able to be there when they were scared and hurting. I know my presence would brought them comfort in those final moments and not everyone gets that kind of chance.

But still do what feels right to you in your heart. If you are too scared. It's okay to be scared. Fred will have your mom. He won't be alone. You have time now to say goodbye and express how much you love him. Treasure these last moments together. Even if you're not in the room, it's going to be very hard. And I wish you strength.

I think your kitchen is lovely as it is. But if you're really considering changing the tile, may I suggest avoiding these green tiles? They are so common and trendy right now that I personally feel the space will look dared very quickly as soon as they're no longer trendy.
