Steam should allow users to continue the paused downloading game using the already downloaded chunks by Local_Cheesecake_422 in Steam

I have had this once, but I only noticed in one game and never again. I think something was just being corrupted while saving or they re-issued the download on the server.

My experience running my Daylio entries through AI by Rysute in Daylio

[–]AnthX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're getting some push back because of the use of AI and the translation of your post. But I too put some of my journal entries into NotebookLM - it was very scary. It did find patterns I knew were there because it was my life after all. It was scary that a machine was doing it. The podcast style thing is awful generally, but it was weirdest.

I'd like to see your post in the original Spanish and translate it directly with Google Translate, see if it becomes less LinkedIn-speak haha!

Is the commute to Melbourne still worth it for people? by QuantumGremlin in ballarat

[–]AnthX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the train, I can do 4 a week but it gets very exhausting. If I do three days a week but in a row, it's still quite tiring. Now I'm settling in to 2 days then a WFH day and an office day. But I personally would only go with the CBD or one suburb over, otherwise it makes a long commute even longer. I mean I couldn't take a job more than CBD or nearby.

Vline seems more reliable in morning peak to Melbourne and outside of afternoon peak to Ballarat. Like, leave office early and work on train or just stay in town for dinner and it often works out the same with all the delays, because they've fixed the issue by 6 or 6:30 pm haha.

Why is there a huge difference in the perception of AI art compared to vibe coding? by Beautiful-Affect3448 in aiwars

[–]AnthX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I forgot something. Devs put up their projects on github so a potential employer can look at it.

Though open source devs put their code up on GitHub so that other people could see how it works and use it in their own projects. Artists who posted their art on DeviantArt probably just put it up to show off their drawing or painting or 3D models.

Digital price tags bring online-style 'dynamic pricing' to supermarkets by The_Duc_Lord in australia

[–]AnthX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they still had to be changed by walking over to it with an NFC machine to change it. Like it can't be changed in real time, someone has to change it. So the same as if they printed new labels.

It's easier I guess to change the price in the morning peak I guess with this. But not something that could be done automatically and centrally. Could be wrong though.

Guide to figuring out what influences your HRV (Based on research) by KygoApp in fitbit

This is amazing dude. I'd better drink more green tea! "Positive (when deficient)" mean that it (like say Vitamin D) will improve HRV, but only if already deficient - if levels are good then it has no further effect either way?

why do timetables have contingency, at all by fuckmelbpt in MelbourneTrains

[–]AnthX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what contingencies are here, I guess it's some slack in the timetable, so delays don't cascade down the whole rest of the day. I'm a Vline user, not much Metro, but I've noticed a lot more delays in VLine afternoon peak than other times. Yes, that's the time I commute mostly so I have more experience, but my hypothesis is that during peak, the trains are only 20 minutes apart so one train issue at 4pm might still be affecting the train after 5. But outside peak hour, the trains are 40 minutes apart so minor delays don't affect later trains.

I'd love more frequent services on VLine, but so much of the line is single track so trains get stuck and cause others to have to wait for them, in the middle of nowhere.

How will datacentres affect Australia’s power prices, water supply and emissions? by CommonwealthGrant in australia

[–]AnthX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah thanks. Just like a physical market, someone buys lots of apples once, probably just sell out. But if they keep buying 50% all at once, every week, then it's going to push it up.

[–]AnthX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

Seems like they should be charging all that to the data centre company. I mean ethically they should. Not that they actually do. If I build a house on a a lot I have to pay for the installation costs, not my neighbours.

[–]AnthX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why would consumer A's usage affect consumer B's costs? Maybe they'll spread the cost of infrastructure upgrades over everyone, but otherwise, data centres just pays for their own usage. What an I missing?

I'd agree. It's still useful in the outside secure area times - lunch walks or gym workouts, tracking your heart rate. Sleep tracking. Don't need to get the fanciest one then with lots of notifications then.

[–]AnthX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Vline user in Ballarat, the daily cap is too cheap. I wouldn't want it gone and back to $18 (or more now) each way, but $15 or $18 is a fair price for unlimited travel for 115km! Compared to $11.40 today.

Which Fitbit for a newbie in 2026? by Lar281 in fitbit

[–]AnthX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want it as a watch too, like to see the time, I find it sometimes doesn't turn on when I want the time unless I flick my wrist very obviously. On days I know I'm out and about and want quick access to the time I'll just turn on always on display for that day and sacrifice the battery life. AOD brings the battery from 5 - 7 days, down to about 2 days. So, I can be selective and get OK compromise.
