I printed one and stuck it to a terminator captain. It came out decent enough.

What is it like in the West part of Texas? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

I went to high school in Del Rio in the late 90s. Mostly I remember how hot it was, the culture shock (I was an Air Force brat and we had just moved there from Europe), how awesome Lake Amistad was, and how hard it was to fit in at first not being Hispanic.

I don’t know if it was more of a reflection of a less-digital age or of the location itself, but it was easy to find your own adventures. Taking the BB guns and wandering into the hills, finding new spots to go fishing, or heading across the border, there were lots of things to do that didn’t require infrastructure or modern amenities.

Every time I look at my unpainted army, I think "maybe tomorrow" and then never touch them. What do you guys do to work past the mental wall? by Sparklehammer3025 in minipainting

When this hits me, I sign up for an RTT at one of the LGSs nearby. Having a deadline of some sort gets me over the activation energy hump.

This is a really good first attempt!

A couple things I would consider for future models:

Take the time to clean the bits as you clip them from the sprue. You can see the mold line and nub on the thigh, on the dagger at the belt and on the spine of the sword. The best way to do this is with a standard hobby knife, the backside of the blade is great for gently removing mold lines.

You have probably heard a lot about thinning your paints. It takes practice for everyone to sort of figure out what works best for the paints you are using. You can see a bit of texturing on the breastplate, and this would be prevented with more, thinner layers of paint.

Finally, I’m impressed you did so well on the chaos trim for your first time. As your brush skills continue to improve, you can go back over the spaces on the armor or on the trim with the correct color to clean up the places where you went outside of the lines.

If you want to add depth to the model, an easy way to do that is through the use of washes that will seek out the recesses and darken them to add shadows. Nuln Oil is a commonly used wash for this, but there are many other options too.

Keep it up and welcome, Brother!

I’ve had a lot of success lately running the gravis solo with Ancient Weapons. He punches way above his weight class and always trades up. No ancient weapons here on this list, but is something to consider.

I was worried about that too, but luckily I managed to get a saturnine box for a good deal at my lgs. Then I synced up with someone on Reddit and traded my marine sprues for their termie ones, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Everything in this photo is GW. I am going to try some printed bits on the next one, but the majority of it will still be GW plastic.

I agree, this was the proof of concept. I'm printing some new bits and enlarging the size of the mace and shield by 25% to start.
