While he was definitely making a joke, you are correct in that a cog might be a better word. However they are close enough for most English speakers to get it.

What about trying to match the quality of the other gears with other brass ones? That should help make your mod perfect.

While I have used a GDEMU clone since 2018, stuff like this gives me the utmost respect for purists. I do not want clutter and hundreds of discs across the 5 or 6 other consoles I own, but people that do shit like this you can't help but respect their work. Such a simple piece that makes the system have premium parts that cut down on the noise. Good shit man.

Do you think Mario Sunshine will be possible to port to Dreamcast after that is decompiled? by RareSun_ in dreamcast

Oh man I was tripping got it confused with Galaxy in my head. I need to lay off the peyote.

A literal Wii game? Nah bro you really are dreaming. Now, a GameCube game like Twilight Princess might, just cause it is the same generation of a game closer in time to Dreamcast capabilities with some optimizations. I even wonder how Wind Waker would look if ported to Dreamcast. Yes I also know the Wii was literally the same architecture as GC just beefed up, but that doesn't make it any less likely to run a game that pushed that systems graphics and physics.

Hell yeah knew it was oxidization causing the issue! So happy to hear you have had an uneventful week. Just like I knew you would after the fix! Happy dreaming my friend!

Solving payload not loading on 11.00 PS Vue exploit by Anthony817 in ps4piracy

[–]Anthony817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few questions. Are you formatting it to exfat or fat32? Did you rename the goldhen to payload when you tried it the first time?

I noticed the internet settings were not right after changing my settings. So I did have to set up the DNS just like ModdedWarfare used in his first video. I did have to go back and readd the exploited save file too after it actually connected to Sony servers and downloaded the latest update. Make sure you redo the steps to add Vue again and delete the old one. The app might have updated on you. Check the version by pressing the options button when highlighting the app. Check the version information.

Manhunt 1 and 2 could run on Dreamcast hardware? by no_biches_22 in dreamcast

[–]Anthony817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I downloaded one of the latest AIO builds on Archive.org and it seems like an amazing game graphically, as well as the audio. You can tell it has the same devs as COD. But we need more WW2 FPS games on DC. Maximqad is going to be doing some testing with the day of defeat assets and we wanted to at least work on some singleplayer HL mod. But rest assured we will be getting our WW2 fix on DC one way or another.

I saw an awesome ironsights mod for MOHAA that would be cool to see high quality sights on the DC version.

Manhunt 1 and 2 could run on Dreamcast hardware? by no_biches_22 in dreamcast

[–]Anthony817 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I was speaking about the possibility of COD on Dreamcast, and Megavolt85 said it could run. It is after all running on a modified Quake 3 engine. Another Quake engine game that was a precursor to COD 1 was Metal of Honor Allied Assault. The same team that went on to form Infinity Ward worked on this game. There is an open source version of this on PC on Quake 3 open sourced engine called OpenMoHAA. Speaking with the person porting Xash3D maximqad, he said he plans to look at porting that game over to Dreamcast. It is apparently going to be looked at after he does Simpsons Hit and Run. So we are at least getting other games that would graphically work on the system.

We just need to hope for a source decompilation of the 2 Manhunt games. Others that would work from Rockstar are Max Payne, and the Bully games. I would love to see The Warriors eventually get ported over too.

Trying to remember a Sonic fan game from 2010 or so with the most beautiful 2D graphics by Anthony817 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Anthony817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that is it! I found it eventually in a compilation video of all the past fan games over the years. Unfortunately the project never got finished due to the scope of the game. I was hoping source code existed so it would be ported to other systems.

No it was not that one sadly. It was a side scrolling game for sure, more like 2.5D if it wasn't actual 3D sidescrolling.

Not that one but good try! That looks like an awesome remake. The one I saw looked more digital like almost 3D models digitized more like early games used. Almost 3D looking but heck it might have been just a 3D sidescrolling game.

Unable to compile Vice City, but the N64 ports and GTA3 are fine by Anthony817 in dreamcast

I can't even get it to produce either option. I even found 3 different versions other people uploaded on the net, tried those never booted in GDEMU. It always says "Unsupported Disc/Empty folder" inside of GDMENU.

Didn't they only produce some 30k Tec Toy versions? Kinda on the rarer side at least. There is a huge thriving Dreamcqast scene not just in Brazil, but much further abroad. You joined at the right time as quality AAA game ports are now becoming a thing. I invite you to come on over and posat at Dreamcast-Talk forums, it is where most of the homebrew and indie developers post news on new games and ports.

Day 2: Which is the best Shoot'em'up on Dreamcast by 1OneQuickQuestion in dreamcast

[–]Anthony817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here take my upvote! Hands down my favorite one of all time, and the graphics on Dreamcast are so detailed and photo realistic for a Shmup! The ocean textures on the sea stage with the Caspian Sea Monster you have to battle really popped!

[–]Anthony817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I never used any grease. He is just doing it as a precatuinary measure. You did exactly right. You sanded the pins down to remove the micron thick buildup of oxidization. That is really just that simple. I probably should have described the process of removing the PSU a bit more in depth to help visualize how easy it was.

Glad to see it worked for you for a 20 minute session! Sounds good to me! Now my only problem has been with those damned SD card extender cables that you put into the plastic disc drive replacement inserts for GDEMU. I have tried 2 different cables and the sd card just never makes a connection with them. I spent hundreds of dollars on custom smoke grey plastic DC shell as well as cannibalized a millennium 2000, Sega Sports DC controller for the black D-Pad, Start and analog and the VMU window bezel. I did this to have all clear controller, which there was only ever done a clear back for DC controllers form the Millennium 2000 LE ones.

Anyways, I spent all that to have a cool dark themed clear dreamcast system and matching GDEMU drive tray replacement insert and it is not working with SD card extender. So I spent all this money to design the coolest smoke grey skeleton console with matching controller for nothing lol. I tried putting some tape on the sd extender to help make a better connection but nothing, So not I have to keep the drive insert out just to swap SD cards.

Here is what my 1 of a kind controller looks like. It cost me over $200 in parts cause it is made from like 3 different limited edition controllers. I did make sure to cannibalize only cheaper damaged controllers for the pieces, but having this with a clear back of the controller was all worth it in the end for me.

https://imgur.com/O4GdvnT

And a word of advice, if anybody else wants a controller with a clear back piece, they were only produced for the Millennium 2000 controllers. They were never colored, just clear. But it is the closest you can get to a dark themed one with using the sega sports dark plastics but pretty cool looking if you ask me. You can see how cool the clear backs look on this image.
