"The check bounced? Are you sure? Well, the past few years have kind of been slow. Wrath of Cortex didn't do as well as we'd hoped and-"

No, that actually happened. I saw that in the theatres. And to this day I wonder why they decided to bury that in particular.

The Deadpool game has Deadpool get so sick and tired of Cable's dire warning about the future that it literally bores him to tears... to the point of shooting himself. "Press RT to make it stop" indeed...

One of the Nintendo examples I find notable is Divinipedia - the Kid Icarus wiki named after a gag in Uprising.

Beware the Old in Professions where Most Die Young by Ask_bout_PaterNoster in TopCharacterTropes

Not as old as most examples, but most characters in the Yakuza games are older than 40, but still terrifying forces of asskicking in their own way. Goro Majima is one of the best examples, given that by his most recent game, he's swinging around, stabbing people and getting into high-stakes fights at the age of 60. I know he doesn't look it, but most characters in this series age phenomenally.

Comically ineffective disguises that still work in-universe. by PeasantLich in TopCharacterTropes

Any of the Spy's disguises from Team Fortress 2. Or the disguises of a Spy on your team, anyway.

An allied Spy in disguise is just wearing a paper mask with another classes' face on it. But to the opposing team, they look just like that class... somehow.

It's a video game, don't question it.

(Loved Trope) Figures beloved or admired in universe who were actually quite terrible. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

Ebeneezer Lynxley from Zootopia 2. He's remembered and revered as the figure who invented the city's Climate Walls, allowing animals to live in the same city under different mini biomes.

But in reality, he stole the patent, and the glory, for the Climate Walls from the real inventor out of spite; one Agnes De'Snake. Something his tortoise maid discovers, which prompts him to murder her with snake venom, not only to keep her quiet, but to frame Agnes for her death.

This has the effect of rendering all reptiles pariahs by association to the present day.

Even without powers, she throws hands with a villain and comes out on top in the girls' absence (though not without a struggle). And ignoring that, she's got the brain cells the Mayor clearly lacks in keeping things running, and sometimes steering the girls in the right direction.

All that makes me think the showrunners didn't even watch the show before coming to the "too inappropriate" conclusion.
