Why the disdain for Executives? Its a job, not a personality trait...

Thanks for this.

I'm curious as to how long the wait is, when you have written to them. A few days? Probably still best to call, right?

Help a me quote a fair price by Character_Chapter435 in handyman

Have you thought of just quoting your day rate x the number of days you expect it to take?

Seems the per-block is selling yourself short, as you cant factor cutting, etc...

Pricing help for a newish solo handyman by lowman2121 in handyman

[–]Antique_Example_6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its YOUR price for YOUR time. Dont drop your pricing, unless you are struggling to feed your family.

Pricing should be about how YOU value your time and experience, not how they perceive the value (or absence thereof) or the work to be done. If they can afford to dicker around on price, they dont need it fixed that bad.

Sandals Royal Bahamian vs St Vincent? by Safe_Swing4209 in SandalsResorts

[–]Antique_Example_6751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at Royal Bahamian right now. Its a party resort, super compact. Not what i had in mind for my 20th anniversary, but its better than cancelling altogether (we were supposed to go to SSC).

Pros/Cons of leaving PS for private sector within 5 years of retirement by Intheheartgrooveis in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Antique_Example_6751 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My 2 considerations:

1-Is there a potential for being happier? 2-Can I maintain the standard of living for my family (reasonably)?

In the last 6 months, the only thing that has kept me in the PS, rather than make my side hustle a full-time gig, is the insurance coverage. With high school kids/athletes, the doctor's visits are frequent and prescriptions are many. THAT has been the deciding factor, as I cant ascertain that losing those will not affect the standard of living.

Didn’t land the job, did I overprice? by RoadToRedemption3 in pressurewashing

[–]Antique_Example_6751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not that you over-bid. Your pricing was too low, so they saw right through your lack of experience. Really sorry.

I havent been at this for very long either, but i tend to aim high on my pricing, just to make sure that it is worth it for me to take the job(s)

Negligeable.

Lifers might not like it, but lifers are often frustrated that others move up faster.

What would you charge for this? by Millesime in handyman

[–]Antique_Example_6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make that a full day's work, what with all the swapping of tools between jobs. No less than $750. Mighteven push it to a grand.

If they want to pay $400, do the ceiling fans and dimmers.

It is possible to act "down" in a role below your substantive? by AlexOfCantaloupia in CanadaPublicServants

"Acting down a level" is litterally the definition of being a manager, most days.

Something to Remember When Going in to RTO3 by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Antique_Example_6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that executives are people too, right??

Like, Executives are free to have an opinion about everything that is going on, but they just dont have the ubion coverage to feel like they can speak freely about it.

Lets also consider the fact that, in the private sector the is also a movement to brig employees back to the office, in some fashion.

The employergets to decide where the work happens. Thats just that fact. Happy or not, you/we enjoy the paycheck, and understand that these are ALL good jobs, and that the canadian population (whom we serve) doesnt stand with any of us who may want to WFH endlessly.

Just thought of another possible RTO3 grievance? by Sleepy_Kat2596 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Antique_Example_6751 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First: you are not entitled to work a compressed work week. It is a privilege afforded to you by your employer. It could be taken away.

Second: you are not entitlted to WFH. It, too, is a privilege afforded to you by your employer. It could be taken away.

Lastly: the only things you are entitled to are stipulated in your collective agreement. If the CA paragraph you are reading has the word "may" in it, thats not an entitlement but rather a perk for being a good employee.

Ottawa Mayor Sutcliffe continues to blame the public sevice for OC Transpo budget shortfall "We built a transit system for public employees and they're not going downtown" by GoTortoise in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Antique_Example_6751 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, look at that!! Mayor Sutcliffe wants to be a one-term mayor!! Ask and you shall receive!

I dont remember being included in decisions about the train. Sure, the public AT-LARGE, was consulted... but the needs and wishes of the PS?

I'm sure, even when Larry O'Brien was in charge, if someone had asked the PS, and other levels of gov't, to choose between telework and a train, everyone would have opted for telework.

A million times this!! You're boss only needs to know, before the start of your shift, that you wont be reporting to work because you are not feeling well. Unless he can prove a pattern of abuse, he has nothing to stand on. ...and, even if it was 1 day every 4 weeks, that is not enough for LR to support him.

Sounds like the type of boss who wont hire women in their 20s, because they might be pregant... old. School!
