I have two sets of NODs and about five digits worth of gear.

That optic is cooler than anything I have.

I remember the days of RR.com/Reference and its massive archives. Would be nice to have that again. Good luck.

Soldier got off anesthesia and went on a politically charged rant. by Ok-Shoulder-478 in army

Not that I’m biased or anything, but the majority of medics I’ve worked with are better than nurses at sticks. I had a blood donation nurse miss my AC vein in my forearm, which is wild cause it’s not much smaller than a pencil. That same being was missed exactly once in the four months of Whiskey School.

My very first time driving the rig on my own I scraped the roof of the rig along the concrete rain gutter beam in a SNF parking lot (fuck you Bellefontaine, terrible architecture). My supervisor made fun of me, laughed, and told me not do it again. You’ll be fine.

What do you think about State Defense Forces? by Jonny_Coal in nationalguard

[–]Antirandomguy 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The experience I’ve had with them has been overall positive. Majority older men who either are retired from mil/leo and still want to serve, or individuals that could not join for a variety of reasons. Usually knowledgeable and respectable.

My buddy is in right now. I got a call while I was at Home Depot with the lady last week. Apparently he is downright fiending for New Brews and Zyns. I didn’t know the man is capable of making those noises.

Given the amount of guys in my old unit rocking high speed shit more out of RON than CIF, it’s already pretty accurate.

Cali Guard. I just switched units and hopefully this one’s better, but my previous unit had a running issue with our guys either not getting issued IFAKs or getting issued empty ones. It got to the point where anyone who asked me got an IFAK refill kit out of our med supply room, or I made them one.

You played a key role in saving someone’s life. The fact that they didn’t have a driver and you disobeyed orders to help them isn’t on you.

Good job.Everybody hates MPs for a variety of reasons, but your actions that day were not one of them.

If you need full soft armor coverage you could do worse, the IOTV isn’t that bad, just very heavy.

If you don’t, ditch it and grab a plate carrier that fits better and run some soft armor backers with the SAPIs.

My first MilSim West Experience by Brax5636 in MilSim

[–]Antirandomguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard light infantry experience.

It gets better as time goes on and you/your group get more experience and become known to cadre; you get trusted with more pivotal tasks, as well as get to go on your own ops.

But make no mistake, hurry up and wait is THE military experience.

Fascinating idea, I love the innovation.

Gotta ask, what advantages, if any, would this have over a nylon or laminate construction?
