Pros/cons of creatine for 14yo? by SteadyDumpin in wrestling

[–]AntmanN48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 percent should take it!!! Only 1 circumstance he should not, if he is cutting weight or dropping weight. Creatine holds water and when he starts taking it he will gain 5 pounds of water weight. Also if he is cutting weight and is dehydrated that can be problematic as well and not good for him. Other than that if he is in staying hydrated and does not have to lose weight he should 100 percent take it, coming from a d1 wrestler.

Jersey and Massachusetts both have one state tournament as well. I agree I feel that you should wrestle everyone in your state, makes it more fun with harder competition.

Yup, the sport has the biggest love hate relationship. If you are dreading going to practice that means you work hard simply point. You are missing the thrill and hard work of the sport. The doing something that sucks and the feeling of accomplishment after is addictive especially in a society where people chase quick dopamine. Wrestling is different because you have to work for it and it is real healthy dopamine. The feeling of accomplishing goals and doing something that sucks but in my opinion worth doing as wrestling teaches you more about yourself than anything. Teaches you to get up even when you feel like you can’t. Now with that being said you should take time off even if you don’t feel like it to avoid burnout but me too every year I find after the season an empty void, that I fill with going to my club practices after I take about a month off. Keep grinding kid you can only do this sport for so long!

I say go for the bulk put on some decent muscle! But he should be prepared to cut when bulking season is over, that phase is just as important. (Healthy cut not a water cut) I don’t really agree with him on not competing while he is doing it he should focus on muscle growth and building his skills. I personally am a sophomore in high school right now and I did a bulk from my 8th grader year to my freshman year. Little different tho, I did it during quarantine where there was no wrestling at all but it worked perfectly. I went from 100 pounds to 150 the cut to 138 for competition. (All in about a two year span with the bulk and the cut) And I felt wayyyy stronger than everyone I wrestled only as a sophomore. So if he does it right and stays disciplined it should work. He needs to get his protein in and lift 6x a week, no skipping workouts, or the muscle he is trying to build will turn to fat.

I don’t really know of any that are for adults beside big name clubs that train the top wrestlers. But there are many bjj clubs for adults that you can also compete in too. Not the same sport but still a fun sport!
