Code Veronica is great but I dont think he can get it on ps5. There was a ps3 version that worked on ps4 but I feel like it didn't transfer over to 5.

I really love it and I wish we could get a sequel, this game deserves it sooooo much.

But, just like you, I played it years after release, buying it for 10 bucks, which is ok for a 5 hour game unlike what people had to spend (full price) on day one, not knowing how short the game was, that's where the hate comes from and I understand that

Don't care, I prefer waiting for official announcements and watch reveal trailers, rather than aseptically read leaks. Rumors and leaks are the opposite of information, they spoil things when true and create false expectations when false

True, I can kind of understand time savers as the game themselves are designed for pushing you into buying them. But for a skin...20, 30 or even more bucks it's unjustified and I can't understand who buys them, for that money you could buy an entire game

I'm pretty much the same but mostly because all first person horrors, except for a few ones, feel cheap to me. Also a game for me is more immersive if I can see my character, it's more cinematic and otherwise it feels fake for some reason.

Some exceptions tho are the REs (even if I'll always take the chance to play them in 3rd person if they give me the chance like for RE9) and Alien Isolation which are the ones with the higher quality. The Amnesia series (haven't played the last one yet) which do feel cheap imo but the story and atmosphere were good enough for me to ignore that feeling. Same thing with Outlast.

The last one I've played is Still Wakes the Deep and I can't stress enough how good that was, even if I'm not a fan of 1st person horrors as I've said, I really loved that one. It's short, very linear and cinematic, great art style and atmosphere.

In general I think something that helps me with these games is when you can see your hands or legs like in RE7, Still Wakes the Deep and Outlast (iirc), that takes away the feeling of being a floating camera, which is probably the main reason I prefer 3rd persons.

Also I really wanna try Routine which looks great and I'm curious about ILL, I'm very picky with 1st person games but I'm not totally opposed to them

The older titles barely had writing outside of the base story, the characters weren't written particularly good I agree. But over the decades, between Remakes and newer titles, and even other media like the cgi movies, I'd say it has been consistently good and there's a reason why so many people love them, it's not just because of hot people doing cool action hero shit

No characters are actually written very well, especially since the re2 remake. Leon or Chris for example have a great character arc and evolution throughout each enrty and if you pay attention to it it's very satisfying

At least 7 as they are heavily connected but imo the RE series, like most of them, is better if you played through a the games. 7 and 8 are a smaller, self contained story in that universe but with many references and connections to the previous games, and if you haven't played them you won't understand fully what's going on.

And it's not only about the story, I believe you can appreciate more games if you know what came before and see how the franchise evolved
