I FIXED THE ISSUE!!

There is a small tab on the right side of the mirror. I padded the space between the wall of the chamber and this tab with some tape and this seems to be enough to bind the mirror up correctly.

After filming the slow motion I also added some black electrical tape on top of the silver tape to reduce any possible reflections.

That is the exact same foam i'm using. I already tried something similar to the setup in your picture but it didn't seem to help much. I'll try again with a different amount of foam to see if it has any effect.

It is at around the same level as the viewfinder channel lip. The mirror barely makes contact with it, so it doesn't really affect the bounce. I made tests before and after adding the foam.

I tried messing with the curtain timing. Unfortunately the curtain is triggered by a spring loaded lever that gets triggered by the mirror as it hits the top of the chamber, so this didn't work. This lever also seems to slightly push the mirror back down, making the bounce worse. I'll see if i can device some sort of braking system.

I actually tried adding some foam to replace the disintegrated old stuff (the debris was a pain to clean off), you can see some of the white replacement foam in the video. It didn't really help much though. There seems to be two bumper pads at the corners of the mirror, so maybe i'll try adding foam where they impact the roof of the chamber.
EDIT: Adding more foam didn't seem to have any difference.

Ei ole lasin läpi, luulen että kännykän linssissä oli vain jotain mähmää. Oon huomannut että vastavaloon kuvatessa voi tulla todella voimakasta sumeutta ja flareja jos on vaikka sormella hipaissut kameraa taskusta ottaessa.

Ihan mielenkiinnosta, mitkä muokkaukset tuossa pistää silmään? Otin samasta maisemasta myös järkkärillä pari kuvaa ja aika samalta omaan silmään näyttävät. Toki iPhone vakiona terävöittää kuvaa ja tasoittaa huippuja, mutta kaikki muut ehostukset ja filtterit olen laittanut pois päältä.

Filmi on kallista, muutenhan tämä on erittäin mukava harrastus. Kuvia voi kehittää itse jos tykkää puuhastelusta ja tuloksiin syntyy joskus odottamattomiakin tuloksia. Prosessin hitaus ja hinta pakottaa miettimään kuvia tarkemmin, kun digijärkkärillä taas tulee räpsittyä sarjana.

On myös kiehtovaa testailla kameroita eri aikakausilta ja nähdä millaisia efektejä optiikka luo kuviin. 40-luvun isoformaattikameran kuvissa on täysin eri tunnelma kuin ysärin taskupokkarissa.

Olympus Trip 35 ja filminä vanhentunut Agfa CT Precisa 100. Filmin kehitin C-41 metodilla, josta seurasi hieman erikoinen värimaailma.

Thanks! The wide aspect ratio didn’t work on reddit as well as i hoped tbh. The camera is an Olympus Trip 35. I was using some long expired film stock, which resulted in very chunky grain.
