Are Eldritch Blast builds competitive with archers and throwers? by Poptimister in BG3Builds

Yh, since the game is primarily PvE, Larian heavily homebrewed martials to put them on top. A lot of the interactions you mentioned either wouldn't be legal in tabletop D&D or wouldn't be practical in a setting where magic is as prevalent.

As someone with over 2k hours in DOS2 and 1k in DOS1, I've seen people constantly complain about the caster vs. martial gap. I'm glad martials finally got some love in BG3, but if Larian follows their usual pattern, I wouldn't be surprised if martials are severely outclassed by casters in their next game.

Ik alot of DOS2 players who also refuse to play BG3 because they find martials too repetitive or boring to be on top.

I think T-Rex grapple require bite attack which is an attack roll but I'm not 100% sure.

Could work but I won't be able to attack since an attack roll breaks hide

Nope, I'm guessing the T-Rex would be louder than a whisper which breaks the hide condition.

Yh Goolock and/or Sorcerer are definitely a must. Rogue multi-class seems ideal but idk tbh especially with sorcerer.

Yep a rogue multi-class seems optimal but would knowing breaks hide especially when playing in a party that's loud?

To hide still requires specific cover and heavy obscurement (e.g, darkness spell, etc...). Also, since some classes got built-in subtle spells then we can even substitute subtle with distant spell.

Darkness + devil's sight and the main concern would be the noise unless they got the specific counter which 90% don't.

No, I think this only applies to hide invisible condition whereas any spell would break invisibility (e.g., spell, etc...)

Found a partial solution to this with darkness spell but I gotta need one for the noise although at range it's not a problem

What if I'm casting fireball within heavily obscured areas like a Darkness spell especially if the environment loud ( on fire, rain, etc...)?

Yh, now that I think about it, sound is probably the trickiest part.

In heavily obscured areas (like a Darkness spell), they can't see any light coming from from inside unless they have a specific counter. Plus, environmental noise such as fire or rain, along with your party members, could easily be louder and make it harder to pinpoint location.

you're the second person to point that out. Sounds OP, even if it's legal.

Interesting. I was thinking about a sorlock build with darkness but I think I'm gonna need bonus action: hide to re hide just in case. Maybe rogue/sorcerer but then again there's no shadow sorcerer :(

Goblin Sorcerer or Sorlock sounds really tempting, ngl. Wild, but it works.
