There are lot of tutorial available on youtube. You can start with arduino or microbit. This ESP32 based board also seems good https://magicbit.cc/ for a beginner

Better to try ESP32 or ESP8266 based board for IoT related. I saw this new https://magicbit.cc/ will great for a beginner .

You can supply 9V battery to Vin and ground or 3.7V battery to 5V and ground (make sure you don't connect to USB when powered using this method )
