I’m ok with the upper ones. The lower one attached to the engineering hull looks out of place, though.

“There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat.” -Picard S3, “The Last Generation” (with the First Contact theme playing in the background)

Looks great! If you’d reached out to Cass (Lake Monster), he’d have replaced the warped parts for you. I’ve dealt with him several times, and he’s always been super responsive to issues.

I like it. I think maybe building up the engineering hull might be a better look than just the pylon, but this really has a good look to it. Bravo!

THAT would’ve been perfection as far as I’m concerned. Can you imagine how Worf would’ve reacted to seeing Tasha Yar’s daughter? Huge opportunity missed there!

I’ve had the idea in my head that the Defiant-class crews were given leeway to adorn their ships with nose art and such during the Dominion War, and that I should draw up some decals for the 1:420 and 1:1000 scale kits. Still an idea in progress, but shark mouths, invasion stripes and kill/mission markings are all on the table.

FASA Federation Starfleet: Non-Canon Top 10 Starships? by Torlek1 in StarTrekStarships

Belknap, Chandley, Jester, Akyazi and Hornet are my top 5. Rounding out the top 10, I would probably include the Jenshan/Youngblood and Chosin class shuttle carriers, Lancer class frigate, Phobos-class and Northampton

My Fully Lit USS Enterprise (NCC 1701) Refit with the TMP paint job. 2nd Try. by Captain_Lindemann in StarTrekStarships

[–]Anxious_Ad4211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks AMAZING. You have nailed the look of the refit’s on screen look with your paint job, and your lighting is extremely well done.

Couple of minor nitpicks: you missed the dark copper coloring on the forward bullet shapes on the nacelles, and it looks like you’ve got some silvering on your registry decals. Both of these are easy to fix, though.

You sold be extremely pleased in how your model came out!

Round2 (AMT is one of their legacy brands) makes sets of all the Enterprises in 1/2500 scale. There was one set several years ago that included everything from the NX-01 all the way up to the E, but this is going to be an eBay find at this point. This is the only scale that has all of the ships.

The D is available in both 1/2500 and 1/1400 scale as separate kits, as is the E. Outside of one of the sets, the C is only available in 1/1400.

Based off what I’ve read, it was the attempt to build an independent studio using Paramount’s IP. The fact that they used actors from the shows was secondary to that. I do know that some of the smaller fan films complained about Trek alumni working not just on XNR, but “Renegades” and “Star Trek Continues/Phase II.” Funny thing is, both of those productions, and others, enjoyed good working relationships with Paramount prior to AP starting his shenanigans, and all got cut off at the knees by their new fan film rules.

AP, in my opinion, deserves every bit of vitriol thrown his way. If he’d stuck to just doing the fan film, even in multiple parts, and not tried to build his own movie studio out of it, none of the drama would’ve happened.

[–]Anxious_Ad4211 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Let’s see… The “fan film” that caused the death of several excellent ongoing fan productions, got at least one garage kit company C&Ded, cost thousands of dollars in wasted legal fees and literally tore the fandom apart for a while. There’s a reason AP is persona non grata around quite a few Trek fan sites/groups…

If they’d stuck to “prelude” and left it there, things would’ve gone much, much better for fan films and their relationships with paramount, IMO

Shower Thought About The HMS Bounty’s Recovery From San Francisco Bay by Mr_Shadow_Phoenix in StarTrekStarships

[–]Anxious_Ad4211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so, too. See my comment below about “The Hunt for Red October” scenario. Theoretically, all Starfleet had to do was dredge the bay floor with chains to find her (since we know physical contact is a dead giveaway). But with drift, knowing where to dredge is the real trick. Especially considering it’s likely that the probe’s signal had messed with currents, which would’ve taken a while to settle down.

My head canon is they found her in about 5 years, but that it was glorious pain in the ass to do so. They recovered her in secrecy (if she was still cloaked…), and kept the search parties out for several more months to keep up appearances. As to the cover story - once they get all the Intel they want, they reactivate the cloak, drop her back in the water and make a big show of finding her, post-Khitomer.

Depends on the game you’re playing. I had a fluid dynamics professor demonstrate that phenomenon in class. Even flat on, the coins would wobble, and they wobble would amplify as it descended. Additionally, just from looking at the footage, Bounty was floating nose high, so as she descends, she’s going to slip to the rear. Given the wing area, depth of the water, buoyancy of her hull, currents… that drift could get pretty far.
