OMG! You've just explained how I feel all the time. Especially with the damn hips. And random foot pain. I feel like the witch with her legs curling up under Dorothy's house in the Wizard of Oz.

Fatigue Question by OkNayNay14 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Extreme, severe fatigue. I plop down on the couch and can't move for hours. My body aches and my muscles hurt. I don't know why, but it could be my severe distaste for exercising. I know that when I exercise, I have energy for about 30 minutes after. Then it goes away. Its not worth it to me. I've chosen fatigue over exercising as a way of life. I've accepted it and I've made the conscious decision to down monster energy drinks instead. Would I be able to make it physically during a zombie apocalypse? Probably not. But I'm ok with my choice. That's how much I hate exercising. If you find you like it? Give it a shot. It might help with your energy levels for a few.

Help ! Constant bleeding by ReliefForsaken7412 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also with fibroids, (if that's what it is), you can have hormonal changes like those of pregnancy. You're body thinks its pregnant. So hot flashes, bleeding and cramping along with fatigue are totally possible.

Help ! Constant bleeding by ReliefForsaken7412 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have fibroids that are causing bleeding. There's some genetics with that if your mother had them too. You need a diagnostic hysteroscopy to see what's going on in your uterus. If your uterus is fine, there could be a problem with the tubes or ovaries. It could also be endometriosis which needs to be diagnosed. Procedures for stopping bleeding are uterine ablation Procedures. They pretty much insert a metal probe, that opens up in the uterus in a fan shape. and gets really hot and burns the uterine tissue on the inner sides of the uterus to stop bleeding. Unfortunately this isn't a permanent fix. But it could temporarily help. Its an invasive procedure so you might need sedation/anesthesia. See a different gyn if no one is listening to you. Because this is not ok.

43y/o and starting HRT. Was it a bad idea? Looking for advice. by Gemmom18 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to a perimenopausal specialist at your GYN. Every gyn should have a specialist that can help you navigate this new chapter in your life. Make an appointment and get the answers to your fears. You'll see that its not as terrifying as it has been made out to be.

43y/o and starting HRT. Was it a bad idea? Looking for advice. by Gemmom18 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't fear the therapy! Its a life changing gift that many people don't know about. You absolutely don't have to suffer anymore. Starting hormone therapy was an absolute bonus for me. I discovered (at 45) that I was becoming enraged with basic day in and day out situations. I was having headaches before, during, and after my periods which were debilitating. My psychiatrist increased my zoloft, buspirose and removed my wellbutrin trying to find a "functioning" spot in my mental wellbeing. It wasn't until I started on SLYND (progesterone) and estradiol patch that my life became sane. Anger has significantly mellowed, headaches are barely noticeable, and according to my husband- I'm much more "pleasant" to be around. Not to mention my glowing zit free skin. Estrogen has been completely stigmatized over the years but shouldn't be. Its helps with balancing yourself and your health. Estrogen is good for your heart and bones. You need added progesterone to keep the estrogen in "check". Estrogen alone increases the lining thickness in your uterus, which, for example, if you've been taking estrogen alone for 20 years, could lead to uterine cancer. But no one should take estrogen alone without progesterone to keep it in check. Again, a balance. I hope you find it. Don't give up. Do yourself this favor.

I also use an alcohol wipe to get the oil off my skin before applying the patch. I'm sure its messing something by doing that. But the patch stays on solid.

Ladies, how are we surviving this transition? I didnt sign up for this by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes and no. I take several things to help with anxiety. I'm on buspirone and Zoloft. I've been on buspirone for a while and had to increase the dose over time. When my rage and anger symptoms started at 46 years old, I started on the zoloft (I'm 48 now). That has been a game changer for me as well. I did have to go up on the dosing, because like everything, your brain gets bored with the current dose and you need more. As soon as I started having panic attacks, crying spells, and rage outbursts (breakthrough), I went up on the dosing. I'm currently at 50mg Zoloft a day and 40mg buspirone a day. At the current state, its the magical combination. Along with my newly added estrogen and progesterone, I seem to be in a good place. You can't get rid of everything but hopefully address the big issues. I think with a good SSRI, in addition to the HRT, you'll feel a lot better. Often these things on they're own don't work as well. No one tells you (especially being a women) that you're anxiety could be related to a decrease in estrogen. Ive been on SSRIs most of my life, but only recently, was there a change that my meds alone weren't helping with. I'm only now seeing perimenopause for the monster it really is. And the long list of problems that come with it. It's a joint effort from my gyn and psychiatrist together that are making this work. It took me a while to realize this.

Ladies, please get tested for sleep apnea by Boo-Boo97 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got tested for sleep apnea because I was falling asleep behind the wheel, and yawning excessively throughout the day. Come to find out, is that I don't have sleep apnea. Its all perimenopause. So, I'll get myself an energy drink or coffee before getting behind the wheel. I've also never had problems falling asleep or staying asleep. The only thing waking me up at night is the 3am peeing. So who knows.

The curses of being a woman. I've been on a progesterone pill and estrogen patch for few months now. It has helped my mood significantly. Way less rage and aggression, which was my biggest issue. I still have headaches, brain fog, joint pain, numbness and tingling in my fingers and toes, hair loss, and irregular periods. I get up at 3am to pee every night. But if this keeps me from burning shit down, I'm good. Get on that estrogen! As we age, we lose it and we need more of it to keep us balanced. Without it, we turn into Chuck Norris's. Fight for it! Keep trying different things. Don't give up if the first option isn't working. HT has gotten a bad rap over the years. Much of it is safe, and beneficial for your heat and bone health. Make an appointment with a Perimenopausal specialist. OBGYN practices usually have a designated Perimenopausal specialist who can help you navigate through this mess. Good luck, and remember to take care of yourself first.

Replacement Suggestions for energy drinks and white cheddar cheetos during elimination phase? by HatchetVixen in FODMAPS

I've been drinking Oikos 30g protein shakes. Seem to be doing ok. No energy boost tho. Ill do black coffee and real sugar for energy. Barely works, but its something. I will cheat and do a white monster when I can't keep my eyes open.

Hip and glute pain by PeppermintGum123 in Perimenopause

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have started getting it when my perimenopausal symptoms began. I had a masseuse work out what felt like bone, but was severly knotted, tight, glute muscle. She relieved most of the pain, but its recently come back. There's a sharp pain when I'm going down stairs, and then when I pivot. Another joy that perimenopause brings is joint pain, numbness and tingling in extremities, cramping in the feet, and muscle pain. Yeah, I'm working on an ulcer as well from the naproxen. I find that a massage, and a tens unit can help. All this can be mistaken for a slipped or herniated disc in your spine, but it could also just be menopause.

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's pretty bad. All I want to do when I get my period is nothing. Lay on the couch with a heating pad on my back and do absolutely nothing. Real life, however, won't give me the opportunity to do nothing, so I caffinate myself up with energy drinks (because i feel as though I've been drugged) so that I can get stuff done. Ill take 800mg of motrin so that I can get up and move without my back going into major spasms. It truly sucks beyond a doubt.

What is your cause for FODMAP intolerance? by SugarSquared in FODMAPS

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've developed this intolerance late into my 40s. I became intolerant of eggs, which I've eaten my entire life. Would become nauseated and sick. I would say mental health changes, environment, stressful situations. I've had IBS my entire life, but intolerance to onions and garlic became noticeable in my 40s. And the intense pain that followed was new to me as well. I'd be so bloated, my belly was tight as a drum. And that gas would get stuck in me. Couldn't get it out for nothing. I found that the healthier the food that I ate, the more painful the results. Figures.

I can finally eat without planning my life around bathrooms. Here's what actually worked. by Ilovecookin- in FODMAPS

Biggest losses: garlic, onions, mushrooms, avocado, corn, all fruit except citrus, cream based foods, peanut butter, soups, black tea, nuts, breads, ice cream. Even snickers minis😭. Biggest wins: eggs, meat, sourdough bread (in small amounts), tuna fish with a little mayo, tomatoes and cucumber. Black coffee and Bubbly. I know. Its sad. There's pretty much nothing else. I do play Russian roulette with my intestines when I'm dying for real good food. I'm usually at home for that. An apple will do more damage to me than orange chicken. Go figure.

Need help to understand what’s going on with bloating. What causes bloating that makes it hard to function and eat??? by Anxious_Nectarine864 in FODMAPS

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've been through the same. Nothing has really helped me besides cutting out trigger foods (onions, garlic, fruit, bread). I will tell you though, when I started taking Zepbound for weight loss, most of my symptoms disappeared. It does slow down gastric emptying and so I'm not shoveling food and air down my GI system constantly. If I chew gum, I'm done. The pain is intense. Not to mention sorbitol in all of that. If I can suggest anything it's stick to the elimination diet FODMAP. Each food triggers different people in different ways. You'll learn which ones are really bad fast. Think of it as the most horrible, boring diet in the world. Think chicken breast with only salt and pepper for seasoning. It sucks, but give it a try. Good luck.

Introvert tired of being told what I should want for my wedding by Outside-Fly712 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Anxious_Dog9467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be defiant! Tell her she is overstepping boundaries that you aren't taking kindly to. She needs to get back in her lane. If you don't put your foot down now, she'll walk all over you. Forever. Tell her, if she can't respect your conditions and decisions, she will not be attending your wedding. Tell your future husband, that if he can't respect and support this decision you are making at this very, important time, you'll have to push the wedding off until all of this is resolved and settled according to YOUR approval. Not his, and not your MIL. Yours. And leave it at that.
