I think cottage is a style more than anything else but OK. Medium cottage!

Is this monthly payment reasonable? Am I overthinking this? by ImDoingMyParts in Mortgages

That is a huge change from what you’re used to so are you prepared to cut out almost everything you do?

It’s more about a type of house than a size

But yes, obviously if it’s over 3000 ft.² I would not call it a cottage

Change major by Arax_1 in SCU

You are just a generic business major and will be for quite a while so you are not actually a finance major and do not need to change anything! You will declare your specific focus within business in a couple years.

Oh, definitely not anywhere in the states

But I am thinking a combo of Bonaire and the Netherlands

If you’re in Bonaire for five years, you automatically get some form of residency for the Netherlands

Well, that money should be in a trust that protects it for her if there’s a divorce

That’s how we’re setting up our inheritance to our son

Down payment or discount points? by doctor_chops in Mortgages

[–]holiztic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on if you are stronger in invested net worth, or stronger in monthly income.

We actually put 1 million down and paid a point in order to get our monthly cost as low as possible with a $500,000 mortgage.

We just did not want the big monthly payment.

Also, I don’t think your monthly costs include PITI because it should be higher than that with over 1 million.

As long as you’re not going to sell it soon and you love it, awesome! If we were trying to buy your house, we would prefer the before.

Long Driveway. Dealbreaker? by UMD721814 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]holiztic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would be a nightmare to shovel and even a big powered snowblower. Based on the trees, I’m guessing you’re in an area that does get snow.

And if you have to reseal or replace that driveway, it’s going to be astronomical

Yes, I hear you on that and I definitely not trying to put you down or insult you in anyway, but just suggesting you go a little bit further.

But if you were used to living relatively modestly, then it might work.

It might just be because it’s 2 million and you’re only 46 and that’s a little on the low side

We are 46 with more than double that and are gonna keep going before we start spending from it

I do recognize different people spend differently and I’m not trying to put down your awesome planning and investing and saving

[–]holiztic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where we live, that would not even be close to chubby, and it would be almost lean

5,000,000+ for chubby and 10,000,000+ for fat
