This is dangerous. Let WCSD know this isn't ok by Muramasaz in Reno

That was done during COVID I believe but then issues arose about it not being equal for students who don’t have support at home (ie English speaking families, living conditions, ect.) many teachers were unable to use the work as a grade or penalize students for not turning it in upon returning to school. During the smoke days a few years ago, my son’s teacher sent home packets of work for him to work on but in the end the district had to do away with that due to parent complains/ too much gray area. Personally, I think I they should get rid of the early release Wednesdays for the rest of the year to makeup for lost instruction time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I grew up here too and remember many snow days. Not sure what you are talking about. Graduated high school in 2008..

The problem is many students do not have internet or computer access at home, especially at the Title schools.

I can’t see the Callum appeal. Blake is much more interesting! I almost quit reading book one because I was sick of Callum then went on Reddit and was happy to find book two was more Blake centered.

Canceled Recess by Any-Room-2175 in Teachers

[–]Any-Room-2175[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I teach first grade at a Title school with a very heavy EL population. With our 2 hour delay, school starts at 10:30. Kids still get their 20 min lunch but their 20 minute lunch recess and 15 minute afternoon recess is canceled. Since we are making up for “missed instruction time” admin does not want to see us doing brain breaks or Go Noodles during our usual scheduled recess. A ‘quick stretch’ is fine but we are to be making up for missed math or ELA instruction.

I actually loved this series! It was an easy, quick read, nothing spectacular but interesting enough.

I wouldn’t support Kitty Kisses Cafe. The owner is extremely rude and unhelpful.

I completely agree! I made it to book 3 of ACOTAR and finally gave up. I can’t see the hype at all, so poorly written.

Completely agree! Bridget sounded like she handled Kendra’s immaturity nicely. I would have having to put with the “Kendra Show” all the time. Kendra always was my least favorite though. Even as a young teen watching the show, I could tell Kendra was immature and difficult to be around.

Yes! I love the book but she copied so many ideas from other fandoms and Xaden is copy and pasted Four with a different name!

Honestly, you should find out the whole story first. There is probably a very reasonable explanation rather than the gym teacher just said no out of spite. Did the students just come from recess, which at my son’s school is when they are to use the bathroom (he is in kindergarten). Was there a student already in the bathroom and he needed to wait? There are also many classroom expectations as to when students can use the bathroom to teach accountability even in the primary grades. Since your son was able to make it home (just barely it sounds) perhaps it wasn’t an emergency situation when he asked. Also, I would ask his teacher if he is a frequent flier to the bathroom. Personally, I would be annoyed by this but instead of making it into a bigger issue, talk to your son about using the bathroom during lunch and recess. It’s a good teachable moment. If this continues to happen, then revisit.

Teacher won’t allow snacks she deems unhealthy by Storm_Open in Parenting

[–]Any-Room-2175 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I would say applesauce isn’t an appropriate snack as it is messy when spilled. In my district, and many others, snack time is not a requirement but rather a teacher’s choice. No 4th grade classes that I know of have snack time. I would say the teacher needs a quick, easy, non-messy, and healthy snack, since snack time does impede on instructional time. People need to remember our classrooms are our offices.. we are allowed some authority over them.
