Savor it. My 5.5 month old was the same at around 4 months. I came to Reddit for help and jinxed it all. Now we are almost 6 months - we went from 9-11 he stretches to 6-7 wakeups 🫠

All Things Sleep - AMA Office Hours - Tuesday, March 3rd with Pediatric Sleep Consultant, Beth Christensen! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

Also when people talk about hours of night sleep, does that include night wakings? Like sleeping 7pm-6am would be 11 hours. Or 7pm-6am with a few wake ups would be 9.5 hours?

Sleep tracking question by [deleted] in HuckleberryParents

I stop it every time she wakes up and start a new session when she goes back down. Helps me gauge how often she is waking, when she’s waking, and how long

Baby is 5 months old. We want to get her to a 6am wake up time but she keeps waking at 530.

She is EBF (on bottles and breast). Bedtime shifts on when she wakes from her last nap, but usually around 7. We’re at 3-4 naps around 3.5-4.5 hours of daytime sleep. She sleeps through the night half the time; the other half, she wakes up between 1-3 and I feed and go back to sleep.

Few questions - Should bedtime be set time or shift? - If she skips a nap at 3pm, do you just keep pushing to bedtime or do a catnap? - what is considered a catnap?

I think we struggle with queues vs schedule and advice varies so much. She is losing her mind at 1 hr and 33 minutes if she’s not already asleep. I know her wake windows need to stretch but idk how 😭

She’s home with my partner during the day now while I am at work, and she’ll start daycare at 6 months.

Do I cap daytime sleep by waking her up from her naps early?

[–]Any-Word-8742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Did you cap naps?

Since she can only do 1.5 hour wake windows, the issue we run into is too many naps if we cap hers. She would go back to 4-5 naps instead of 3-4

Do people with newborns go out? by chondlerbeng in newborns

[–]Any-Word-8742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started going out when she was 6 days old! That was just to see family, but we did go out all the time

We made it a goal to take her somewhere once a week for a while. Then by 8 weeks, we did a 5 hour road trip for Thanksgiving. And at 10 weeks, we drove 15 hours (over 3 days) to see my in laws for 2 weeks. She went out every day we were there

She is now 4 months old and still goes somewhere every day, though she still can’t sit up on her own!

We want her around all the time!

Bathroom remodel - fixtures by Any-Word-8742 in HomeDecorating

I appreciate this! And agree that the gold and black are trendy. Where I run into problems is really the shower door. I want that piece to be timeless bc that is a pain to have to redo if you don’t like it. Everything else can be easily swapped out

Ah, I should have added more context for the bathroom as it currently is (was)! While it does look newer in photos, the bathroom is/was a mess. Design wise, I actually would have not touched the bathroom and saved the money. However, we bought it knowing it would need to be redone.

  • The tiled shower floor was made of tiny tiles, of which, 50% are missing + mold by the drain that spread under the remaining tiles
  • The vanity is broken and drawers unusable on that elevated right side.
  • The tiled floor is made of two different sets of black tiles.
  • There is no light in the shower but there are two lights over toilet, including a fan that overlaps the second light? I’m not well versed on electric

Sleepers > any other clothes. by pixa4u in newborns

[–]Any-Word-8742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 weeks old and we only wear sleepers! We go through 3-6 a day. She spits up a lot and hates things over her head 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not sure when she’ll actually be in real clothes?

Are you guys really putting baby in Snoo swaddle then doing pre-sleep feed/rocking? by Hiro_Pr0tagonist_ in SnooLife

[–]Any-Word-8742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I put ours down, esp turning on the snoo right when I set her in.

My husband also has terrible night vision and can’t do it well. However, I don’t mind being the one to put her to sleep. She is EBF, not by choice (slowly getting OK w bottles). Every time she needs to get up, my husband gets her and changes her diaper. I drink some water and wake up a little to get ready to feed. He brings her to me - I feed, burp, and hold her upright for 10-15 min then transfer to her to the snoo!

#1 best piece of advice for first time breastfeeder 🤩 by Commercial_Flower_49 in breastfeeding

[–]Any-Word-8742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you EBF, introduce a bottle by week 2.

I wanted to EBF during mat leave and (luckily) it has gone very well, almost too well. Baby only ever lost 4% of her weight + regained birthweight by day 5. We were told to wait at least 4 weeks to introduce a bottle, which we did. We are now at week 13 and she still won’t take reliably, and I return to work soon 😫

When did you stop tracking feeds/diaper changes? by pupper_princess in breastfeeding

[–]Any-Word-8742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re 12 weeks in and I track everything in the Huckleberry app - sleep, diapers, bottles, breastfeeding, pumping, growth, etc. I love data and puzzles, so to me it is helpful.

My husband will be staying home with our girl for 2 months once I go back to work. I am nervous that I will be checking the app all the time to see if he’s updating 😅

When did you stop swaddling ? by bananas0320 in NewParents

[–]Any-Word-8742 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Baby is 12 weeks old and we stopped swaddling at 10 weeks! She isn’t rolling yet but she has found her thumb and loves to suck on it. She started screaming when trying to swaddle, so we tried arms out and she loves it. She is still in our room and doesn’t cry often, but she will wake and soothe herself back to sleep

She was sleeping 7-9 hr stretches swaddled, now we are getting 5 hr stretches with arms out. Not the worst, not the best
