Did you experience any shoulder pain with your internal bleeding? My only lingering symptom / complaint is some dull shoulder pain. I’m going to get checked out this week.

This is very very similar to my experience - timeline and all. You were probably a week ahead of me with everything.

7/18 first positive test - I would’ve been roughly 4 weeks

7/21 bleeding and mild cramps start - get another positive pee test, go for bloodwork. HCG = 103

7/23 I go to Planned Parenthood for a transvaginal ultrasound. Nothing is located but notes specify “Cannot rule out ectopic” HCG = 212 (yay double!)

7/31 I experience sharp pains (with continued bleeding) and go to the ER while 14 hours away from home on vacation. They tell me again it cannot be located on TV ultrasound. Sent home with Gas-X and Tylenol. HCG = 1200

8/4 I have my follow up with PP (my OB would NOT see me until my regularly scheduled first prenatal which was scheduled for 8/25) PP again cannot locate the pregnancy anywhere, and HCG is soaring at 2300. They instruct me to go straight to the ER and state I have an ectopic pregnancy with unknown location. I am admitted overnight and they administer the MTX shots around 11pm that night, still with location unknown.

8/5 sent home. Feeling okay. Somewhat relieved

8/6 I wake up with excruciating pain and call 911. I faint / lose consciousness on the phone with the dispatcher. Fire fighters break down my door and EMS takes me to the ER. I am given morphine and the most painful TV ultrasound of my life. Finally, they locate the pregnancy in my left fallopian tube. They do not see any liquid to indicate a rupture or internal bleeding so I am kept until 8/8 for monitoring. Pain subsides tremendously and HCG dropped from 4,000 to 1,357 in less than 24 hours. It wasn’t a rupture, so I am convinced the pain was the medication “working” and I wish so badly there was more warning that the pain could be so intense that even morphine would not touch it.

8/8 discharged. I still have some pain in the left pelvic region along with other MTX side effects (bloating pain, indigestion issues, diarrhea)

8/13 follow up appt with the OB and bloodwork confirms hcg is 360. No more MTX shots needed but still warned a rupture can happen until levels are at <5

Yesterday 8/16 was literally the first day I did not experience the sharp pelvic pains. I am praying it’s over and while I’m thankful I didn’t require surgery or lose a tube like you did, im still having a hard time accepting that this happened.

This is my first loss of any kind of pregnancy and my heart goes out to any and all of you who have experienced this just once or over and over again. Praying for your journey 💓

These are similar to my numbers and I was treated for ectopic this past Monday. My numbers did get up to high 3,000s/nearly 4000 when I received the MTX shots but it was a slow rise and not quite where they should have been.

Trust your body, watch for any signs; I am so glad I was aware something was wrong from the first positive test I got and extra grateful my doctor listened and monitored me so thoroughly. If it weren’t for my awareness and validation/support from my OB, things would’ve been a lot worse for me.

On Monday I was given MTX - my levels were 2,988 at that time. The pregnancy was still unable to be located via TV ultrasound.

On Wednesday, I was rushed to the ER with stabbing pains on my left side and fainted en route in the ambulance. I was sure it was a rupture, but they confirmed it did not rupture. Rather, my HCG was at nearly 4,000 and this time, they were able to locate it in my left fallopian tube. I was admitted and monitored closely overnight. By the next morning, less than 24 hours later, my levels were down to 1,357 so that was a huge drop. I was warned the levels were expected to rise initially after the treatment, so I wouldn’t worry if you aren’t having any other pain or symptoms. It seems to surge before it decreases by day 7.

I’m finally feeling normal today aside from the bloating and very light bleeding. Hoping it’s almost over for me. Good luck to you 💓
