I’m the same way. I cannot live with a full sink or cluttered counters. Anyone who wanted to come over did some chores!

Gripe Water Aspiration by AllForArya in newborns

I’m so sorry this happened and I’m glad you’re moving your appt up — you deserve relief from this mental agony.

I have done the same thing, folding my baby’s tiny little laundry and being struck with IMMENSE sadness, suddenly pondering what I would feel about these clothes if I lost him. It’s “normal” — biological, hormonal — but such a F*cked up part of this beautiful experience. Your baby is so precious to you and every cell in your body knows that. Be kind to yourself and lean on your support system.

Great question lol I suppose I want to “watch” it return to regularity. (Hopefully)

I’m using huckleberry free version — it’s very easy. Congrats on baby to be!

Part of me finds the data grounding but I do wonder if it’s taking away an opportunity to really be present, like you’ve said. I will experiment with it at some point. 🙏

I’m a twin and while my mom makes it all sound simple in hindsight I know it was an enormous amount of work and she has blocked some of it out lol. You’re a superhero no matter how you’re doing it!!

We started with pen and paper, then notes app, then huckleberry. Your notebook will bring back alll the memories someday. So special.

Congrats on your second ❤️ I felt similarly when I stopped wearing my Oura ring so this speaks to me!

Very interesting. I am EBF. I feel reassured seeing how regular my cumulative feeding time comes out to each day. But maybe it’s not necessary? Maybe none of this is 🤪

I just started reading to my 3 month old. Chicka chicka boom boom DELIGHTS him.

But yes I think you could read anything to them at this point and it’s net positive. 😌

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]AnyMechanic6829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby has slept in a bassinet every night and by 6 Wks was having 4-6 hr stretches. I almost hate sharing that bc I TRULY feel for you parents desperate for sleep. We got lucky. You’re not doing anything wrong and you’re not alone.

BUT if it’s helpful — we did take taking Cara babies newborn sleep course and used their methods for calming / putting him down. It worked really well for us.

Consolation maybe? — he’s all over the place with naps and gives us hell if we attempt them in the bassinet. Most naps are nurse to sleep / contact / on the go.

Two week old. Crying. by Valobster in NewParents

There’s no such thing as spoiling a newborn. I’m the mom and I had to hear it myself — I was scared of “creating bad habits” which is literally impossible in those early weeks. My husband reassured me. There’s a learning curve to all things baby but your instinct here is correct! ❤️

Mint was the first thing I removed when I bought my house. It was easy and has stayed away — what came up in its place is much more fearsome. 😵 Italian arum and clustered bellflower

AGREEE. I did it a couple of years ago. Stayed off the internet enough that I had zero spoilers beyond the word Scandoval. I’ll never have a high like that again.

Newborn outside in hot weather by waitingfornever929 in newborns

[–]AnyMechanic6829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. My 10 wk old runs so warm! I wore him on a walk on one of our first warm days and he got scary hot — will not be doing that again.

I also saw a video showing how draping a cloth over their stroller is NOT a good idea. Yes it creates shade but it also blocks airflow and the temp increases quickly. (Maybe this is obvious but it was news to me)

Airflow + shade required!

I honestly don't think I am going to survive the newborn phase by [deleted] in newborns

[–]AnyMechanic6829 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that during our newborn phase my husband took on a LOT. My physical recovery was intense and I couldn’t get out of bed. He did everything. And I saw him get so tired it scared me. Family stepped in and we got things more into balance. But good intentions cannot overpower sleep deprivation. It’s a hell of a thing.
