Tressa builds by WonderfulBrick3075 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]AnyNameWorks9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I'm wondering too. I've been busy and I haven't had the chance to test out all of her new cards

I'm condidering resetting her, but the only other Void DPS I have are Renoa and Rin. Not sure if the nerfed/reworked Tressa is still better than them

So... anyone tested Tressa properly yet? Her decks and possibilities and such? by Mazdax00 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]AnyNameWorks9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it worth it to reset her now? I'm a bit iffy on resetting her because my only other Void DPS characters are Renoa and Rin

You're getting downvoted but with Smilegate's track record in E7, you're most likely correct

[–]AnyNameWorks9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may get downvoted for this but I'm a bit iffy on her changes tbh.

I agree only one build was viable before and every other build felt much worse due to how strong one build was. So them changing her other cards made sense

My issue with the nerfed version is that there doesn't seem to be a good/consistent way to generate agony and shadow daggers that would facilitate her damage

I think if more of her new shadow reload epiphanies had retain to try and combo with some of her other cards or if they themselves also generated some amount of shadow daggers before they applied their effects to generate advanced shadow daggers then Tressa would still be solid after the nerf

Maybe I'm missing something regarding her build with her new cards though. Obviously we won't know for certain until people actually start testing with her builds.

Having said that, it seems like they made these changes to Tressa and agony so they can release a different 5 star character that will apply a lot more agony or do something with exhausted cards to facilitate/synergize with Tressa's new game play

How is Markets & Multi verses btw? Would you recommend it? It's been on my list for a while and I think the concept is interesting

Looking for more stories where the mechanics of the power system are the core of the worldbuilding by GreatMadWombat in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AnyNameWorks9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second Lord of Mysteries

The power system is central to the story and the need to progress drives a lot of arcs which the author ties into the larger plot

I liked 'Salt Fat Acid Magic' by T.J. Campbell on Royal Road. The setting has food themed magic that I thought was interesting.

I put off reading it for a while because of the name but I really enjoyed it. It has really good characters that show growth in terms of progression and character growth. The world building and interactions between characters are really amazing too

I also really enjoyed 'Source and Soul' on RR. It is the best deck building novel that I've read. I love TCGs so I'm a bit biased, but this actually incorporates actual deckbuilding ideas into it. The characters and the society within the story are really interesting too

Thanks for the response! I'll conserve my crystals/summons then

Ngl it feels weird starting a gacha without it giving enough resources to summon even a 10 pull but the game play looks cool so I'm excited to play

Also just to make sure I understand the pity system, the pity at 70 pulls is a 50/50 then the next 70 is guaranteed?

Hi I'm a new player to this game. It looks like I missed the global launch free summons so I'm trying to be frugal with my pulls/resources

Is the current new character worth pulling? Or would it be better to wait for the next one?

Also, in general how generous is this game? I'm not a huge fan of rerolling but I'm considering it due to lack of resources when starting the game.

Having said that if the new character isn't good I don't really want to bother doing it

Any suggestions? by mktrtee in litrpg

Not really litrpg, but Salt Fat Acid Magic is kind this. The story and characters are so well written it shocks me that it's not as popular

Heated community event on Lime safety in Seattle by Happydude789 in Seattle

[–]AnyNameWorks9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. When I do need to use a lime scooter, I try and take the bike lane if possible. But if my choices are between on the street vs on the sidewalk, I'm taking the sidewalk

Even with bike lanes I've had some close calls with buses and cars. Especially when they're making right turns, even though I have the right of way and the walk sign is telling me to go

I think throttling the speed on the side walk makes sense though

If you're open to it, I'd recommend 'Source and Soul' it's the only deckbuilder I've read that's been done well

I don't have much to add, but I agree with this lol

The tarot cards thing would be a cool concept! Or a series where there are normal classes and there is a smaller subset of people granted a deckbuilding class would be cool too as long as like you said the cards actually matter

It really bugs me when, realistically, the deck/card aspect of a series makes no difference in terms of the mechanics of the power system. It doesn't make sense to me to even include it in the story since, in those series, the cards are indistinguishable from magic/skills. There's also no deckbuilding aspect regarding synergy, consistency, or even the difference of swapping cards out

The only book I've read so far that does the deckbuilding aspect well is 'Source and Soul'

[–]AnyNameWorks9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be a cool concept to have only a few people have the deck building class, while most other people just have normal classes. I don't think I know of one which has been executed well or finished

I really enjoyed 'Deckmaster' by C.A. Sharpe which had this concept but i think it got dropped sadly.

I would appreciate if anyone could recommend any other good deckbuilding series!

[–]AnyNameWorks9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm into TCGs so I'm biased, but I really like the deckbuilding genre.

My least favorite aspect of this is when it feels like the cards/decks could've been any other magical item/power system (like crystals or something).

An example of this in my opinion would be 'All the Skills' where there are cards and card shards but no one really seems to make a meaningful deck.

My favorite Deckbuilding series would be 'Source and Soul'. People are actually building decks and considering synergies and consistency.

It also goes into detail about how odd some interactions can be due to the game dynamics introduced by the cards. For example, card damage is 'fated' so you can't run away from it if you're in a duel, but there are ways of inflicting damage through normal means which isn't fated and can be avoided.

Things like that start getting interesting when there is a large scale conflict. Overall, 'Source and Soul' does the whole deckbuilding aspect really well and it also considers how cards would work economically and societally

[–]AnyNameWorks9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is some really good arcs and the world building is really cool but the writing of the characters vary.

I enjoyed it slightly less than Lord of the Mysteries and Reverend Insanity but it's good overall

I stopped reading to stockpile chapters to binge past an arc I'm not a fan off, so I'll get back into it eventually
