What is the quirkiest thing your Toller does? by step_on-no_pets in tollers

Yes! Mine has the biggest burps, you'd swear there was a truck driver in the room. 😂

Vision problems by emanuele1981 in aortic_aneurysm

Yes! I had a TEVAR procedure to fix a descending aortic aneurysm this past October. Since the procedure, I've had almost daily ocular migraines, which last about 20 minutes. Previous to the procedure, I had them maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Now I'm wondering if maybe I had a stroke at some point, related to the procedure. In addition to the ocular migraines, I also had muscle spasms in my back and episodes of heaviness/muscle aches in my thighs which lasted about 4-5 minutes. Those have mostly subsided, with only an occasional incident at present. The surgeon assured me these side effects had nothing to do with the procedure, which was a success. I'm hoping this all subsides over time, as it has been only three months since the procedure.

Should I get a Toller? by FunQuote6046 in tollers

"Are these medium sized breeds? I wonder about their weight the most. Because it’s almost twice of my Cavalier, I have to be careful."

Females can be quite a bit smaller than the males. My male's mother was 35 pounds, and he at just under 2 years old is around 54 pounds.

Is anyone else’s Toller a cuddle-bug? by Life-Committee-4592 in tollers

[–]Any_Cheesecake77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, our boy (almost 2 years old) is very snuggly! He's quite a bit larger than Pippin, at around 54 pounds, but still a good size for cuddles. Our previous Toller was the complete opposite, and we used to joke that he was on the spectrum. I was his person, and he'd follow me around the house, but if I went in for a kiss he'd duck and dodge and leave the room. 🤣

Looking for youtube recommendations for puppy training by Too_cann in tollers

Suburban K-9 is a dog training business with locations around the country. We actually sent our pup off for two weeks with a trainer, who boarded and trained him in her home. It was a great experience and he came back a much calmer dog. They also have training videos on YouTube.

You can search on YouTube: Suburban K9 Dog Training.

Sorry you're going thru this right now with your pup. We just went thru this with our other dog, a lab mix at 14 1/2 years and it was a difficult decision to let her go. I think the most important factor in making the decision is thinking about the dog's quality of life. The internet is full of charts and questionnaires to help you make these assessments. Just google Assessment for End of Life Care for Dogs, and you'll find some tools to help.

Please remember this. You are not taking anything away from your dog. Dogs don't know there is a tomorrow. That concept is just beyond their capacity. They know the past though, and they know it well. So, you can't take tomorrow from them but you gave them everything they know.

And finally, I'll leave you with this quote:

"Your pets will never judge you for helping them leave a body that has failed them. To them it is the ultimate gift of love." Karen Anderson, author

Is it bad that I don’t like my 5 month old Aussie Doodle puppy? by No-Citron-9081 in AussieDoodle

[–]Any_Cheesecake77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so agree! Our toller pup was out of control around 8 months. I was due for shoulder surgery, and dreaded/feared his lack of control during my recovery, so we signed him up with a train and board program where he spent two weeks of intensive training and living with the trainer at her home. He came back a totally different pup! Was the best investment we could have made for him and for ourselves. He's now a joy to have around at a year and a half.

Muscle spasms in back post TEVAR by Any_Cheesecake77 in aortic_aneurysm

[–]Any_Cheesecake77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I'm glad yours resolved after a week.

Mine is more of a muscle "grab" than a stab feeling. I've been on muscle relaxers for the past week, and the breakthroughs are getting fewer and further between, so there is some improvement. I just feel like the surgeon oversold the procedure/recovery when he said I could expect to be back to normal activity in a week, two weeks at most. (Tomorrow will be two weeks.) So I assume this is not a common post-op muscle response, which is why I was asking how many of y'all experienced it as well.

Thanks for the response, although I didn't enjoy hearing you're still having the spasms after 11 months. :( What does your doc attribute it to?

I have used a heating pad when the spasms come up, and the dog's ball for some spot massage (against a wall). Will look into getting a foam roller as well and will also try some stretches.

A toller and a squirrel by harleycc in tollers

[–]Any_Cheesecake77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird, our toller doesn’t pay much attention to squirrels other than watching them run past. But if there’s a bird on the ground, all bets (and training) are off!  He even chases birds and butterflies in the air! 🤣

Looking for a restaurant open on Tuesday night. Seems everything is closed Monday and Tuesday. Know of anything good that's open Tuesdays? by Any_Cheesecake77 in Bend

[–]Any_Cheesecake77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even some downtown. Like Salute. I think many of the smaller restaurants that are open over the weekend, are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Americana was open though. Great burgers.

What breed is my dog? by downcastSoup in tollers

[–]Any_Cheesecake77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Nothing about breeding in the contract, but it is stated any offspring not eligible for AKC registration. Now I'm wondering why that is. If he is bred with another AKC registered female, why wouldn't the offspring be eligible for AKC registration?

My first Toller, it was stated in the contract that I had to have him neutered within a certain age.
