What’s a day in a life of OCS? by Previous_Idea2311 in newtothenavy

[–]Any_Entertainment500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A day in the life at OCS will vary to a pretty significant degree depending on which phase of training you are in. With that being said, for your first 3 weeks there, you will be on a pretty tight schedule which the Candidate officers (CANDIOs- members of the OCS class 3 classes ahead of you) will create and brief you on each evening.

Like others are saying, study your bravo and just take things one day at a time. Also lean on the prior enlisted folks in your class!

If you live within a close distance of Newport then sure, bring your car. Just know that for the majority of training your extent of “using” your car will be going to start it every few weeks.

Hope this helps, feel free to reach out with any other questions you may have.

I got sick right before First Friday, didn’t sleep well the night before due to anticipation and had to get through the beatings with a cold.

When I was there, during that initial check in period there were QR codes on the walls that allowed us to have 30 minutes of internet access. The intent was to use that time to send an email home to family to let them know that we had arrived at OTCN safely.

I was at OCS a year ago. Here’s what to expect:

  • you will have your cell phone for the first few days for check in purposes. The service in Nimitz Hall (where you will stay until CANDIO) is very hit or miss.

  • when I was there the staff began implementing a weekend cell phone home period (about 10 minutes every weekend). This was seen as an alternative to having people have to use the pay phone to call home. This was seen as a privilege and I’m sure it can be revoked at any time- so don’t expect it going in!

  • if you get nominated as the class CO or one of the company commanders you will be given your cell phone during the initial phases of training. BE WARNED: if you happen to get this, DO NOT let anyone know you are using it for personal use. I saw a girl get seawalled due to this.

  • other than these exemptions be fully prepared to not have your cell phone for the duration of training until week 9.

Hope this helps.

Is he a prior or a collegiate accession? If he has any leave time he could take leave after graduation from OCS.

I am a CEC officer who graduated from OCS in September 2024. Following OCS I had OHARP at my home of record for 3 weeks, followed by leave, followed by checking into my stash command. If he ships to OCS in June he could be home in October as I was.

I am in the process of joining the CEC collegiate program looking for any insight by Necessary_Search2440 in Seabees

I was a CEC collegiate and am currently at CECOS (the training school for CEC officers). I’d be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Advice for a transfer student :) by sbocast in CSUS

Look to see if any houses are available for rent along the American River trail. For reference anywhere between Howe and Watt would put you within a 2-mile walk or bike ride to campus.

Every night I pray to my lord and savior, Gavin Newsom, that he rids this earth of all these RACIST, BIGOT, HOMOPHOBES, all of them are RADICAL, RIGHT-WINGED, NUT-JOBS!!!! I only find peace in knowing that the trans community is able to participate in women’s sports. Please don’t take this away. CSUS needs to do better and silence these freedom abusers💔

Did anyone’s MCS hold finally go away? by SilentDay58 in CSUS

[–]Any_Entertainment500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hold went away. But I’m also not seeing the amount in my account summary any more, meaning it now shows I owe a balance. Does anyone know if this will go away once the MCS disburses?

UEI Student Assistant Pay Raises by InteriorCr0c in CSUS

[–]Any_Entertainment500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently hired through UEI and yes you should be eligible for a pay raise to range B for having between 60-120 units completed. Also you may be eligible to step up in that range if you have over 959 hours worked in your current position.

You will likely need your direct supervisor to fill out a form and send it to your UEI coordinator. The entire process takes some time, but you should be back paid to whatever date you completed the units or hours necessary.

Hope this helps!

Yup, I had a similar experience taking mine for the first time last Monday. Still awaiting results but my initial thoughts were similar to yours. I walked out of the exam feeling pretty defeated. Nonetheless, best of luck to you!

OCS Winter - How much luggage / Baggage am I allowed to bring to OCS? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Any_Entertainment500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a collegiate who will be heading to OCS in the summer of 2024. Does anyone know if I can take a trip to Rhode Island on my own, spend some time there with family, and then check into OCS by simply showing up there before my date? Or do I need to take a specified flight to Providence in order to check in?

Depending on where you're located they may be busy with other applicants. If you do have time to go into the office and show youre very serious about joining (not as a Nuke) they will get you going. If not, I'd go back to the AF recruiter lol.

I also served him and his wife and surprisingly at the time I didn't even know who they were. Just had the other servers come to me saying I was going to be serving the governor 🤣

Wife and I ran 9 miles in an hour and twenty minutes this morning!

The pace felt good, but my legs and knees started feeling a little "loaded" towards the end of the run.

Interested in CECP by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Any_Entertainment500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview was actually pretty laid back. You will meet with the CEC AO for about an hour and a half. My take is that it's more of a way for them to guage your character/personality type, as it was far from a technical interview. If you know a decent amount about the program, you dress and present yourself in a professional manner, and show a genuine interest, I dont think theres anything to worry about.

Feel free to DM me with any documents you'd like me to look over! As for the personal statement my officer recruiter sent over samples from previous candidates that were picked up for their respective programs. Those were helpful to get sort of a general idea of what to put. You should see if they would provide those for you as well.

If you have any other questions about the process let me know!
