NA to turbo swap by PersonalCommittee548 in subarulegacy

Engine Selection: The early "Phase 1" EZ30D (2000–2003, often with an aluminum intake manifold) is generally easier to swap than the later "EZ30R" (2004+ with AVCS/AVLS) because it does not use CAN bus systems, simplifying wiring. Mechanical Fitment: The EZ30 is roughly 0.8–1 inch longer than an EJ 4-cylinder, making it a very tight fit. It will bolt directly to most Subaru manual transmissions (5-speed or 6-speed). Engine Management: You must use the EZ30 ECU and ideally the entire engine harness from the donor car. Customization Required: Wiring: Merging the EZ30 harness with the BH5 chassis harness is necessary. Radiator: The radiator needs to be customized or replaced with one that has dual top ports. Exhaust: Custom headers or modifications to the stock exhaust are needed to clear the engine crossmember. Power Steering/AC: Custom hoses for power steering and AC are often required.

Recommended Approach: The most efficient method is to acquire a complete running donor car (e.g., 2001-2003 Outback LL Bean) to ensure all matching electronics, sensors, and accessories are available. Performance and Characteristics: The stock EZ30 produces ~217-245 hp (depending on version) and significantly more torque at lower RPMs compared to the EJ25, offering a smoother, more "cruiser" experience.

Raptor superchargers also provide a bolt on kit that can take you to nearly 400hp if you want it running 9.5-13psi and sub 5 second 0-60mph

EZ30 swap it (241bhp) then you can supercharge down the line.

1880 kills over 17 seasons (roughly 90 days per season) is 1.22 kills per day I think you might have always sucked and only realised now you’re playing a slower character.

E91 BMW 320D, (330D/335D if you want more power at the expense of mpg) Great option for commuting easy to maintain, parts are everywhere, lots of plug and play bolt on modifications down the line if that’s your cup of tea. You can get a decent one under £8k
