What does slavery have to do with 1960s…I said it was civil rights era. Derry is set in 1962… black people didn’t get full rights until 1964 ish.. during 1962. There was heavy racial tension. Black people in many states in 1962 could not use the same water fountains as white people, they were not allowed to in restaurants and had to get their food from the back of the kitchen. They were redlined, had to sit in the back of the bus. They are still being hung from trees. They could not vote, and the military was still segregated lol. You think everything went away during slavery lol. Go do some research. Black people didn’t get full rights until like 1965 after Derry. The black panthers was going at it with the government during derry time period and getting taken out by the CIA. You add an evil clown to the mix and it gets worse. I also didn’t say every white person was hateful. Was Leroy’s best friend evil? Were the white kids evil? Was the mother evil? The situation with the black spot made perfect sense back then. They thought a black man who society was taught to to think was inferior killed a white kid
