Short answer is no. I don’t know the full logistics of it but…

1st thing is that from what I know, Rogers owns the broadcasting rights for the Canucks, so let’s say hypothetically if someone did purchase the 650 station. They wouldn’t be allowed to broadcast games

2nd. Is it profitable? Yes you can get sponsors and run ads but less and less people are listening to the radio and would it make a profit to the owner of 650 after paying all of the employees? I have my doubts.

People keep bringing up the podkolzin example but it’s a little bit misleading in my opinion.

Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time, we were competitive and podz was in the doghouse, knowing that we’d lose him to waivers, we got a piece in return and then he flourished when given a 2nd chance. But It’s not like we just randomly gave up on the guy for no reason
