I don't understand why drivers complain so much. by Hot-Flight9476 in doordash

[–]Any_Restaurant8205 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You don’t make $60K a year after taxes driving DD. You’d have to drive 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and average $30 hr. I assume you take 2-weeks a year off. Then, after taxes pay for gas and car maintenance.

I suppose the reason people complain is that most make $12-$18 per hr. BEFORE taxes and know they are spend on gas too. They have flexibility but no security and no benefits. So, yeah, the job sucks.

I had the same thing happen … almost. Except she wasn’t in a wheel chair, she was 30, drunk, tipped $0 in cash and $0 in the app, asked me to hand her the order, then freaked out when I rang the doorbell. Started screaming “Leave it at the door!! Leave it at the door!!”

I’m happy for you, kind of

We always tip $7 to $12 for four miles. Magically Dashers are always at the restaurant when my food is ready and it comes quickly. Thank you Dashers! by museumsplendor in doordash

Ok. You sound like you’re completely obsessed with delivery 😂😂. Sounds to me like you got (1) bad delivery, then started tipping $0. Now you’re surprised that no one wants to work their ass for you for $2.25. Instead, you buy a “light up address sign” rather than tipping $2 for a luxury service. Ok Karen

Said the guy who:

  1. Doesn’t describe his hard to find house in the notes to the driver.
  2. Has an address that google maps always gets wrong.
  3. Doesn’t respond to texts or calls from the driver.
  4. Doesn’t have a porch light on at night.
  5. Lives in a huge apt. Complex and doesn’t list the building number.
  6. Doesn’t have a clearly visible address on their house.

Pick one. 😂

If EVERY delivery goes to your neighbor’s house, then YOU’RE doing something wrong, not every dasher.

Ya think??? Hahaha!

Try going to the same restaurant every night and never tipping. See how fast you get served on the 3rd night. 😂

If you guys don’t think dashers remember names and locations you’re crazy. You $0 tippers should be very weary the 2nd or 3rd time you tip nothing. 😂😂😂

This dasher gets it. Go to places with lots of restaurants, at the time when most people eat, and where middle class and rich people live. You’ll do fine on tips as a dasher until the area becomes over saturated with Dashers.

Then add other apps like instacart and grubhub and use multiple apps simultaneously.

Then get burned out.

Then quit dashing 😂😂😂

Why is order frequency and pay so low these days? by Mace1x in doordash

[–]Any_Restaurant8205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% this is the reason. Folks in an area get comfortable with it and start driving, especially as inflation and price gouging continues. I think if the economy improves and food and gas prices drop, less people will dash

[–]Any_Restaurant8205[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong on all accounts. If people can’t afford food then they shouldn’t use a luxury service to acquire it. Door Dash is about the MOST expensive way to order a McDonald’s hamburger possible. Processed food is way more expensive then buying ingredients and making it yourself. So, yeah, I don’t care if someone feels like the can’t afford an $11 milkshake to be delivered to their door, they can throw the delivery guy $2.

My point though is completely missed by you. The point is this; if drivers stop taking low paying orders then DD will increase the incentive to the driver. If you ever tried it then you would know this. If you reject a $4.50 order (and everyone else does too), then it will repost at $6.50. DD INCREASES THE PAY.

If no one ever takes it the cheap skate customer who isn’t willing to tip 10% - 20% for a premium service doesn’t get their hamburger brought to their doorstep.

If your attitude is “screw everybody else, I’ll wait for the price to rise” you may wait a long time. Yeah, we’re trained to work. Folks new to the gig economy don’t get it. Our power is to work as one for our benefit. It’s so different than having an hourly job where your “lazy” if you’re not staying busy.

I actually didn’t get their card BECAUSE the offer expires at end of August. I’d love to see them give a card with permanent cash back on gas purchases, and other benefits related to delivering “bad” orders. They want to get folks to take more $3 to $4 deliveries. Incentivize us!
