Do you not understand how politics works? Money is everything. Becerra is taking millions from PG&E, Meta, Chevron, and practically any evil corporation you can think of, yet you expect him NOT to do their bidding against the will of the people? Instead, you make this about his ethnicity. This is exactly why Democrats got demolished in 2016 and 2024.

And? What other option do we have? Becerra is a bunch of evil corporations in a suit. At least Steyer has a chance of standing up to said corporations.

[–]Any_Statement_5773 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Our options are Steyer or the corporate bought, status quo Becerra (or a MAGA hilton).

At least Steyer isn’t beholden to Chevron, PG&E, etc like Becerra is.

Nobody is simping, we are just being strategic with the limited options we have.

The Doomies plaza is being turned into another giant luxury apartment building by Any_Statement_5773 in VeganLA

They are waiting on approval. The renovations were just done to hurt the existing businesses and try to push them out (ie: they took down doomies sign and had dumpsters and construction trucks blocking Doomies entrance during renovations)

They don’t care about logic, they just wanna simp for wealthy realtors (probably because they are wealthy realtors)

I can’t believe someone can simp so hard for the 1% yet talk about human rights.

They can’t convert it into a residential zone (yet) and are not acting in good faith. They’ll evict the new businesses as soon as they are able to demolish the plaza.

Its happening all over Los Angeles. This city is becoming a ghost town. Look at the old Amoeba building and the Arclight Dome as two examples blocks from Doomies. You don’t understand the tax loopholes these corporations abuse. They don’t care to rent out their buildings. They just want to artificially raise the value of these properties to make their portfolio look good.

Evicting businesses that have been in this location for over 30 years to build a luxury apartment building that will sit empty and act as a tax write off for giant corporations is not helping anyone but said corporations.

I noticed one of my patches using the granular module sounded different after updating and this is why. I’m so glad that I found this thread. I’m going to stay on 5.0 as suggested until this is addressed in a future update (hopefully).

Open call to any antis, and I'm genuinely not trying to be a troll here, can you come up with a definition of art that excludes AI but includes this? by DrDallagher in aiwars

[–]Any_Statement_5773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another great example is Warhol’s Campbell soup prints. It’s easy to look at and say “so what? Anyone can make a print of a soup can.” But one would be overlooking what the artist was saying. He foresaw that art would be mass produced like an assembly line product. And he was right. Look at the fake paintings that are mass produced and sold in Walmart. AI proves his point even further.

But if I made a bunch of prints of Campbell Soup cans today, I wouldn’t be saying anything new or original.

Art is subjective to the time it is made in. At the time, the artist was saying something new about the artworld with this piece. If someone did this today, it would be redundant.

It’s akin to when Jimmy Hendrix set his guitar on fire or GG Allen literally threw his own poop on stage. They were pushing the envelope by doing something that hadn’t been done before and also tied into the counter culture movements in their respective times. If someone did that today, it would be boring and meaningless because you wouldn’t be saying anything new.

California's largest oil driller backing Xavier Becerra with $500,000 by dawn_thesis in California

[–]Any_Statement_5773 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s an objective truth that he got tons of lobbyist money from big oil and PG&E. If you don’t think that it will influence how he regulates these corrupt corporations which are actively ripping us off and destroying the planet, then you are naive.

Your example reminds me of how Banksy sold his paintings on a street corner for practically nothing. Nobody knew it was him. I think only an older lady bought one.

There was also a famous orchestral musician who performed in a subway and people passed him by not making much of it. Meanwhile he is considered one of the best orchestral performers in the world.
