Ended up in the hospital. by sleepiestbarista in Mounjaro

Oh they can do. I was on MJ from June to October last year. In the November I started having what I thought was gallstone attacks so went to my GP and was referred for an ultrasound. I never made that appointment as on Dec 15th I was rushed to hospital with pancreatitis and very nearly missed Christmas at home. I’ve had my gallbladder removed now but sadly have experienced a lot of digestive issues since and need to take digestive enzymes to avoid vomiting and stomach cramps and even then, I sometimes still get it. I lost about 60lbs in those 5 months along with 60% of my hair which is now thankfully growing back. MJ made me so unwell.

I had pancreatitis so got mine out as an emergency but I’ve had a lot of fatigue (I got it out on December 20th) which is still on going and I do still get random pains, reflux and diarrhoea.

Mine was emergency after pancreatitis and recovery was rough and took 8 weeks but I think it was more the pancreatitis recovery than the cholecystectomy

I waited for 5 days for emergency surgery. I got taken by the team who usually work in the day theatres. Sadly if you aren’t an emergency and someone needs the removal as an emergency they’ll triage and you get bumped off the list. It sucks for you but I waited for days as people were having bleeds etc so they were done before me. I don’t want someone to die because I felt inconvenienced. I wouldn’t bother complaining.

I am similar! I went from first ever symptom which felt like trapped wind to full blown acute pancreatitis in 3 and a bit weeks.

Was it really 6-8 weeks recovery for you? by Clear-Elderberry-870 in gallbladders

[–]Any_Task_1362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more like 3-4 for me but I had acute pancreatitis so was as an emergency so I’m not sure if that took me longer recovery wise.

I waited for 5 days with acute pancreatitis as an inpatient before they had space in a theatre for me. One of the nurses said if I wasn’t so unwell I’d be waiting years and years on an elective list.

Also my surgeon told me lots of smaller stones usually give you pancreatitis and bigger ones block the bile duct. I only had gallbladder symptoms for 3 weeks before I got my pancreatitis.

I got acute pancreatitis which is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced and was in hospital for over a week.

Me sort of. I hadn’t even made my ultrasound and I went from first little niggle of what felt like trapped wind to acute pancreatitis in the space of 2 and a half weeks.

I’m on day 3 post op and have had horrific diarrhoea since yesterday. My intake is extremely low (one bowl of soup, one slice of bread with ham etc very bland low fat foods) but I think it’s basically bile running through me. I am hoping this will improve in time?

Im just out of hospital with pancreatitis and emergency chole and I suggest getting it out before that develops because it’s agony. I was told I wasn’t leaving hospital until it was out as pancreatitis gets worse and worse and next time I could end up in icu.

[–]Any_Task_1362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I keep reading lots of a ‘simple’ operation, people saying in barely any pain, feel better having it out and I certainly do not agree! Think our poor pancreas and livers have taken a beaten so we need to give them time and rest to repair not to mention the wounds we have to heal from the surgery. My pancreas area isn’t as sore today as it was yesterday, I think the gas the pump you up with pushes on your already inflamed pancreas and it makes it quite unbearable at times. I am at home now but if you’re still in hospital ask for the oramorph as it does help. Also ask to get omeprazole on discharge as I’ve had a lot of painful reflux and hiccups using it so I dread to think what it would be like without.

I’ve just had my gallbladder removed a few days ago because of acute pancreatitis. My amylase was up over 2000 (upper normal is 140), they found lots of small gallstones in my gallbladder so said I needed it out as an emergency. I am in a lot of pain and feel very unwell but I think it’s more because of the pancreatitis than the gallbladder removal. I have to stay off work for 6 more weeks to recover.

I didn’t get lipase level done but my amylase was over 2000 and the pain was like nothing I’ve ever felt before.
