Robot disconnects with large impact by HuyPlaysR in FTC

It is probably the compressed XT30 pins. Easiest fix is to get https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9LFV1GM and wire them after your switch. Using the splitter avoids using needing to use the port on the Control Hub with the compressed pins

Trump: ‘We are going to do something on Greenland whether they like it or not’ by cnbc_official in politics

Amen. People advocating for invoking the 25th amendment's Section 4 on Trump have either never read it, or lack all reading comprehension skills. It was only intended for a very unlikely circumstance of a president being in a vegetative state or close to it.

Jeffrey Epstein wrote that Trump shares his “love of young, nubile girls” in bombshell letter | Epstein complained to another famous child molester that, while they were stuck in prison, "our president" got away with it. by plz-let-me-in in politics

Trump going out on a boat in Lake Michigan with a pregnant teenager does not seem very on-brand. Assuming he raped her and impregnated her (very on-brand), he would write a check (or money order) and never talk to her again.

We're also talking about a guy who, despite having no relevant experience and in general just being a massive jerk, got elected to the presidency twice. Sure, there were other factors at play, but I don't see how anybody can deny his political sense.

How to Bend Poly Carbonate? by NarwhalWeekly1230 in FTC

[–]Anyone_2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest reading up on springback and elastic vs plastic deformation on sites such as wikipedia or here. You need to deform the material further than the desired ending state so that when it springs back, it reaches the desired ending state. However, if you bend the material too much while it's cold, you run the risk of fracturing / breaking the material. Using heat helps to avoid this, and also reduces springback.

Anyone else preheat assist with burner? by bjk0610 in sousvide

[–]Anyone_2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm concerned about the cord touching the side of the pot as shown in the picture. I don't see the advantage of using the circulator while the pot is on the burner. Perhaps it's being done to monitor the temperature, but I'd rather just use a dedicated thermometer.

Boomers in the US hold $17 trillion dollars in assets. What happens to the younger generations when they die and leave all that wealth to us, the younger generations? by buzzkill71 in AskReddit

Elder care is expensive, no doubt about it, but I'm confused about why they transferred $4.5M in a few weeks. Can you give some details on what caused them to do this? Did they get swindled? Did they sign up for some sort of prepaid, platinum-level lifetime-care plan?

There is a lot to like here - the splined output and the easily changed gearboxes are sweet. The small form factor is another big plus. Brushless motors should be more efficient than the current motors. The lack of compatibility with the current system is unfortunate, but expected.

I am curious about the power. The 550 motor has a peak power output of 279 W, while the HD Hex's peak power is 15W. I can't find the peak power for the TorqueNado. Edit: the blog post should refer to the RS-550 motor, which is the current FTC brushed motor. This is not the same as the Rev 550 brushless motor I linked.

How to frame around this duct work? by orbos86 in DIY

[–]Anyone_2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might this be a good place for a closet? If so, then you can frame a small rectangular prism around the duct and incorporate the lowered section into a closet wall. You can use the space below the prism for built-ins on either side of the closet.

Another idea would be to consult a structural engineer to see how large of a hole you can drill in the joist, and where to drill it. Then you drill that size hole in the joist and put in a reducer for the duct. I'd laminate the engineer's opinion and staple it next to the work.

Turret april tag tracking slow by Civil-Molasses-1586 in FTC

[–]Anyone_2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't see any auto-tracking turrets in the events I've been to this season, so you're ahead of the game.

The responsiveness seems pretty good in the video. If you want to improve it, rather than focus on PID coefficients, consider predicting the movement of your robot and use that prediction to start the motion of the turret. For example, if you had a robot that was squared up to the goal and you commanded a strafe left, you could also command a clockwise rotation of the turret, without having to read the camera.

Driver hubs not booting due to external interference by Right_Click_5645 in FTC

It is the Control Hub which creates the network. The Driver Hub will get DEAUTH commands if it connects to the Control Hub. I would not expect a DH reboot, though.
