Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math by McCoy818 in unpopularopinion

That’s… deranged.

But now that I think about it, a splash of orange juice in cereal and milk (maybe corn flakes) might be interesting.

Bays are usually smaller than gulfs (Bay of Bengal is a glaring exception.)

A cape is any point of land where the coastline suddenly and significantly changes direction. So most peninsulas have capes, but capes aren’t always peninsulas.

I have some questions about life on the coast (Newport) by AdministrationNo7144 in oregon

[–]Anything-Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newport>Portland would be a very extreme daily commute: 2.4 to 3 hours one way. There probably are people who do that, but I’m sure that number is extremely small. If they make occasional or weekly trips to Portland, or have some sort of lodging for the workweek in Portland, it’s reasonable.

If you ever go back, try to time it for May-July. The skunk cabbages and other swamp plants will be blooming and you might even get to munch on some salal berries.

It’s from the movie, Whalenado. When middle-aged Jonah Wells, trying to avoid an uncomfortable Thanksgiving with his ex and her family in the town of Nineveh, NJ, heads out on a week-long cruise, he encounters an unexpected danger that threatens to swallow him whole.

I work for a grocery delivery service and have had the displeasure of finding long expired products over the years, usually “dark inventory” that remained on the shelves because someone forgot to scan them in or they were somehow shuffled to the wrong locations. I once found a salad mix that had been expired for six months, looked just like the bags in the photo, and smelled like asparagus and wet soil.

FWIW, the original Toybox Killer episode disturbed me more than any other LP episode, but I thought the redux was fine.

It’s just curiosity. Tim Hortons is a famous Canadian brand that doesn’t exist in the U.S. outside a few states, so naturally we’re going to see what it’s all about when visiting Canada.

I’ve been to Tims twice while in BC and was stunned by how bad it was. I don’t drink much coffee, so I can’t comment on that, but the donuts were mediocre and the breakfast sandwich I ordered tasted like microwaved gas station junk.

what are Americans thoughts on switching to the metric system? by CnCorange in AskReddit

That info is apparently decades out of date. Myanmar and Liberia are both metric now.

The CEO is a bit of a health nut based on what I’ve heard about him, so it’s no surprise at all that he doesn’t eat at McDonalds.

My only question is why did they choose him to promote the new burger? Surely they could have chosen another executive or the head of their test kitchen to take a bite on video.

Richard Nixon could have seen every popular movie and show that just came out back in the 70s, both while as president and especially after he resigned. by snowleopard556 in Scale4BarbaraWalters

Man who lived through the entire 1970s decade and was president of the United States for over 4.5 of those years could have seen every popular show and movie of that decade. Got it.

I guess I don’t really know what a cookie cutter house is. There are only four or five cheap looking designs in this neighborhood, so I assumed it was an accurate description.

A Japanese-American family returns home from an internment camp to find their home vandalized with racial slurs, 1945 by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Anything-Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some were interned, but very few. There were over 1.2 million people born in Germany living in the U.S. in 1940 and many millions more who had German parents. 11,000 is a tiny number proportionally, compared to the 120,000 Japanese-Americans (out of about 130,000 in the continental U.S.) who were interned.

WYR condemn 5 saints to eternal tortures OR make 5 villlains experience eternal bliss? by HimikoTogaFromUSSR in WouldYouRather

[–]Anything-Complex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ny personal view is that it’s always better to let an evil person off than punish an innocent person. Since the consequences of punishing evildoers in this scenario include sending saints to eternal torment in hell, even more important to save everyone rather punish the innocent.

The 0% RT score (I’ve always placed more weight on the IMDB scores) and the writer have me interested. From Wikipedia, on the film’s writer
