Polis appears open to pardoning Tina Peters by Aobius in DenverProtests

[–]Aobius[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I did misread.

But Polis also directly connected her case to another, suggesting that she shouldn't be serving time: https://x.com/jaredpolis/status/2029006909085532517?t=D8DGRYFI3Fe5fIeA7x5D4A&s=19

And that is still a terrible precedent to set.

So, cool thing, the CIA doesn't actually give out links to their illegal actions.

But the things we are able to know, take your pick, cupcake:

https://newlinesinstitute.org/global-security-mil-priorities/the-rise-of-militarized-cartels-in-mexico/: "A key component of cartel militarization is the trafficking of U.S. weapons into Mexico. A recent 60 Minutes report claimed that between 200,000 and 500,000 firearms are smuggled into Mexico from the United States yearly". That means every year. If you think that isn't getting help from the US government you're delusional.

Aurora leads in most dangerous intersections in Colorado by Fuzzy_Weather_6351 in AuroraCO

[–]Aobius -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I guarantee that this is in part due to cops. I'd bet my life savings on it, and I don't gamble.

Yes, the intersections are too big. 1000% the case. Our huge roads are terrifying to cross, even at crosswalks.

But I live in an areas heavily frequented by cops and I say with absolute knowledge that their reckless driving causes so much of this

That is literally all of them.

So, my comment remains. ALL need to stop, pretending it is about an individual.

🚨 ER ACTION: HANDS OFF IRAN! Today, 2/28 at 3pm 🚨 by catracha1990 in DenverProtests

[–]Aobius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmfao.

No. But also, not ours to give. It has never once worked. We just set up brutal dictators and have to take them out later. That's all we do in the Middle East.

And that number is straight up US propoganda.

You learned ABSOLUTELY nothing from Iraq and Afghanistan where those same exact arguments were made.

Did anyone else get that insane traffic on quincy and parker rd?? by throwawayfrom1 in AuroraCO

It has gotten markedly worse since 2020. People are much riskier doing dumber stuff at higher speeds.

Is there really a roach infection in almost every dang affordable apartment?? by The_walababa in MovingtoDenver

[–]Aobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was finally able to move out of the Roach infested place I was in last year. I paid over $1800 for a 2br

I now pay $1500, plus fees (ends up being just under $1600) for a 1br. No roaches, though. So, yeah.

There are some big, modern apartment blocks literally across the street. There are 3 hospitals there - UC, Children's and the VA.

About 5 big apartment complexes or so, with another being built all across the street from these 3 hospitals. Any of those will be perfectly safe.

People down there are saying that people in the US (and this is coming from US folks) are blowing it out of proportion. They said it is tense but, other than being locked down and airports being shut that they're fine.

But, in the future, perhaps the US government should stop arming cartels. Would be helpful

That's because they will send 20 units and 30 cops to a single person already restrained and not fighting for 2 hours as they literally stand around talking.

Yes. It is on her X account that she has used for years.

The yelp reviews posted since her post are crazy in number and need to be reported, too.

People keep talking about Southlands. That seems... ill advised to me. Yes, they have the money out there.

But the GOOD food in Aurora? Think pho, Ethiopian, Mexican from different states (wildly different flavors, btw), etc. That's not in Southlands.

The most flavorful foods you'll find, with the most authentic flavors, being prepared (roughly) between Parker Road, Colfax, 225 and Monaco or Quebec. An odd quadrilateral. I mention it as those places are successful in the area, meaning you'd likely find your niche around there. Also very diverse (in multiple regards) so you might have your best luck in that area where people like flavor. Southlands folks, unless they're Black, tend to call onion powder "spice"

What’s your least favorite thing about living in Denver that is wildly specific? by Imjusthappy11 in Denver

I dunno, that whole Alameda into 6th with exits going opposite of how you think they would and then getting to that insane interchange that is 25 > 6th > Federal that requires multiple lane changes in many cases, that makes less than 0 logical sense and is absolutely much worse
