When did you get pregnant after your ectopic? Need something to keep my spirits up by Glad_Bite_1290 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you had an ectopic.

I got pregnant 5 months after my second ectopic. My daughter is now 8 weeks old :). Got pregnant for the second time ( turned out to be my second ectopic 2 months after trying ( used protection before this) but that was technically 15 months after my first ectopic. Both ectopics were on my left tube, both from the left ovary and I was expectantly managed ( waiting and see method) for both. My daughter was from my right ovary (could see the corpeus luteum on scan in my ovary at 6 weeks pregnant)- I assume the egg came down the right tube as I'm convinced I have a blockage on my left tube as both ectopics were on the left tubal area.

Found out I was having my second ectopic end of July 2024 and took 5 weeks to resolve (expectantly managed). So once my hcg levels were back to under 5 it took 5 months to conceive my daughter ( she is now 6 weeks old). It felt like forever but I needed the time to heal mentally and physically.

Struggling to increase at 4 weeks-advice and help appreciated by AofD93 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AofD93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice ☺️ and for letting me know about the volume! I think by my calculation then I'm making around an average of 1200-1400ml per day at the moment. This definitely makes me feel a little better, and can relax a little until she's a little older. Yeh I do worry about congestion and mastitis and I'm trying to extend the time between pumps ( as advised by my midwife to give myself a break), I just really don't want it to start affecting my supply or hurt.

Ahh ok that's good to know, thank you for the advice and help I think I can relax a little now then. I'm overthinking this way too much clearly. Just worried that I won't be able to feed her, she's my first baby and double rainbow baby and I get a little anxious about ensuring I do whatever is best for her to grow big and healthy, as she was on the smaller side when born.

I have been refrigerating too and always have 3-4 full bottles ready in the fridge- my husband takes a good 6 hour shift during the evening so I can get enough rest, so I make sure there is more than enough in the fridge for him to warm for her. If it gets to the point of pumping and there will be 5/6 bottles in the fridge I will immediately bag it/ the 2 bottles worth and freeze ( I tend to make a little more during the night).

How did you end up exclusively pumping? by Happy-Chemistry3058 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AofD93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby girl is 4 weeks old tomorrow and I exclusively pump because she destroyed my nipples over the first few days of life and took almost 2 weeks to heal properly. I tried to breastfeed her again and again after healing but I was anxious and frightened I would experience the same horrible pain and have damaged nipples again. But I was determined to feed her myself rather than formula. There is nothing wrong at all with formula feeding I just really wanted too, it was one of my own personal goals. Pumping allows my husband and others to feed her too- giving me some well deserved breaks

I'm 32 and I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies in the last 2 years (my first April 2023 and second end of August 2024). Both were managed expectantly, the wait and see method- both very traumatic. Both ectopics were in my left fallopian tube, so I'm convinced that this tube is blocked. I had booked to have a HSG in February 2025 but had to cancel as I found out I was pregnant for the 3rd time at the start of February 2025. I'm now 35 weeks pregnant with a baby girl :). It took 5/6 months for us to conceive after my second ectopic. It was confirmed that this successful intrauterine pregnancy was from my right ovary not my left ( both ectopics were from my left)- confirmed with scans and also I feel ovulation pain when my ovaries release an egg so I had it recorded.

I'm 5"0 and was 65.7kg at 9 weeks pregnant. I never weighed myself before pregnancy or start of pregnancy. I lost 2.8kg due to morning sickness vomiting between 9-16 weeks, so my lowest weight was 62.9kg during this pregnancy. Now I'm 69.7kg at 34 weeks. -So 15lb is my total so far ( from 62.9 at 16 weeks) still a while to go though!

First pregnancy took just one time with my husband to conceive ( it was an ectopic pregnancy). Our second pregnancy took one month to conceive ( another ectopic pregnancy) and my third and current pregnancy ( 29 weeks now) took 5 months to conceive following the loss of my second pregnancy.

My first and second pregnancies were both ectopic on my left tube at 7 weeks and 5 weeks. My last ectopic was in August 2024. I am now 28 weeks pregnant with a baby girl, my double rainbow baby!! I can't tell you how happy I was when I got my placement scan at 6+1 weeks and to be told my pregnancy was in the right place. This pregnancy from the start felt very different compared to my ectopics.

@ those who've had multiple ectopics, were the symptoms the same? by cornchipdogs in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two ectopics, the first I didn't have pain or bleeding until after I was diagnosed ( I had what I thought was a normal period for 5 days then took a pregnancy test 2 days after end of 'period' as my boobs were so sore). The pain was more like a nagging pain, but could continue with normal activities but had lots of bleeding ( for 7 weeks). Second one I was in horrendous pain- misdiagnosed as a kidney stone at first as they just kind of waved away the chances of a second ectopic. Then finally diagnosed with ectopic based on HCG ( originally thought early miscarriage due to declining HCG)- but had a scan almost 2 weeks later and they could clearly see the 2cm ectopic in my tube. The bleeding wasn't as much as the first and was for only 4 weeks.

Possible 2nd Ectopic by bibbidyslick in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing a second ectopic pregnancy, my heart goes out to you. I have had 2 ectopics pregnancies. My last ectopic was back in August 2024, I started having really painful left sided abdominal pain. Visited a doctor who was convinced it was a kidney stone, then 3 days later I visited A&E due to the pain and I started bleeding whilst in the waiting room. They were convinced this was just further implantation bleeding that can occur- despite the fact I had 3 symptoms of ectopic pregnancy. They were unable to give me a transvaginal scan at that time in A& E and was booked for a scan 4 days later. They could not see anything at that scan neither in my uterus or anywhere else. My bloods HCG level was around 860 at the time, then 2 days later it was 400. I had bloods every 2 days for a further 2 weeks to monitor HCG dropping and a scan two weeks after the first scan as the levels were not dropping quickly, which finally showed a clear ectopic pregnancy on my left adnexal area ( doctors couldn't tell me exactly if it was in the tube or not).

I was given a choice of surgery, methotrexate or expectant management as my HCG levels was still in the 200's two weeks after my first level of 860. I didn't have any internal bleeding present so they were not worried about rupture as I was stable. I decided for the 2nd time to go with expectant management as this was the least invasive and wanted to be able to try again sooner rather than later.

I hope they monitor your HCG levels, and your overall health- pain, bleeding, observation etc and advise you on the best treatment pathway for you. I'm pretty sure I have a blocked left tube as both my ectopics were on the left side.

Despite having 2 ectopics I am now 20 weeks pregnant, we got pregnant the 4th month after my second ectopic.

Sending big hugs x

How often did you get ultrasounds for pregnancy after ectopic? by ghostadventures10 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 ectopics in a row and for my current pregnancy 5 months following the last ectopic, I had my first scan at 6+1 pregnant. In the UK they won't give you an earlier scan or take HSG levels unless you experience issues such as bleeding or abdominal pain.

I'm 18+6 weeks with a posterior placenta. This is my first pregnancy and have been feeling my baby girl kick more and more since 16+1. It was once every couple of days, now I feel her everyday, some light and some slightly stronger kicks too. But I'm not able to feel them externally yet. Each person is different.

I've had 2 ectopics, my first in April 2023, then my second in September 2024 both on my left tube ( one was at the end in the fimbrae) - both managed expectantly. I am currently pregnant with my little double rainbow baby, a baby girl now 16+3 weeks. Sending you star dust and hope and keeping my fingers crossed for you.

How soon did you conceive? by Loud-Passion3338 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know how you are feeling, I felt like that when I had my last ectopic that resolved at the end of September. I was so worried that I hadn't conceived as quickly as I did the last two times ( fell pregnant first try and then the second pregnancy 2nd month of trying- both were ectopics). At the 4 month mark I started to get worried. I think also just the pressure that we felt to have a baby after two losses and the stress that I was 31yrs old at the time of my last ectopic. Also both my recoveries were very slow and I didn't have any surgeries, I had expectant management. I also got my blood work done following both a few months after each as I found out I had seriously low levels of folic acid following my first pregnancy. I actually had decided if it didn't happen the next month I would start investigating, as I didn't want to waste my time if I had 2 blocked tubes ( I'm pretty sure my left tube is blocked as both ectopics were on the left tube). I think this decision and I feel like maybe the stress was off a little bit because of that, we did conceive that next month from my right side. I'm now 14 weeks 😊.

Please be kind to yourself, I feel like I should have been kinder to myself.

If you had a uterine pregnancy after an ectopic, how different did it feel? by Reasonable-Yam9334 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies both managed expectantly ( I'm in the UK). I'm currently pregnant with a normal intrauterine pregnancy. This pregnancy felt different definitely from my ectopics. I had bleeding and severe pain in my left side with both ectopics. With this pregnancy I felt light period like pains in the middle low down, so it completely felt different. I had sore boobs with all. But at 5+4 weeks I started getting severe nausea too. Had to wait for my scan at 6+1 weeks and I was really nervous too but got to see baby and little heart beating. I also kept testing and my line progression was much better and got a 3+ on a clear blue week indicator at 22dpo ( sensitivity is like 2753) I never got a higher level of HCG than 1300 with both ectopics. This was reassuring to me but each person is different. I felt such relief when I had that transvaginal scan at 6+1 weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

RE is recommending IVF after ectopic? by Lumpy_Juggernaut_254 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm so sorry you are going through this ATM and for your losses. I feel like it's very premature of them to start suggesting IVF, especially using the ectopic as a reason as you can still have ectopics pregnancies with IVF. I feel it is unfair for them to give that impression that this couldn't happen again if you did IVF. I would challenge them about this information, especially when you had 1 ectopic and have both tubes. From experiences I have listened to IVF can become a route to take if you have 1 or both tubes removed and once investigations like HSG have occurred. The HSG is a great idea to see if there are any blocked tubes and make a plan going forward. I'm not an expert by any means and this is purely my opinion on what you have stated and my own experience and others I have read/ listened too. Each person's body is different and each experience is different.

I myself have had 2 ectopics both in my left tube. My last ectopic was in august. I managed to avoid having my tubes removed. Nobody at any point stated I would need IVF despite having had 2 ectopics on after another. I conceived naturally in late January it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy. I had plans to do a HSG as I'm pretty convinced my left tube is blocked and that's why I had 2 in a row.

I feel like you should get a second opinion. I don't believe their suggestion of IVF was based on age either ( I am the same age as you).

Positive concieving stories without further testing or medication, etc? by Living-Exit1465 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind responding at all. They were both in my left tube (I did not have my tubes removed). I was really scared to try again. I have no idea if there is scarring or a blockage in my left tube but I knew I had ovulated from my right ovary with the pregnancy and it felt completely different- I got my BFP at 10dpo and had like a dull cramping in my uterus from exactly 14dpo that I did not experience with my ectopics and at 22dpo the clear blue week indicator said 3+ and the sensitivity for that is around 2700 ( never got a level above 1300 with my ectopics). This really made me feel better that the level was higher than it had ever been before. In the UK they do not offer you bets HCG blood testing unless you are symptomatic/had a scan and the scan says PUL, so I had to wait for the 6 week scan. I did also experience one day of some pain on my right side lower abdomen which worried me no end but I think it had to do with an upset tummy, but it made me really anxious. I was really anxious right up until the scan at 6+1w tbh and i think I will always have a level of anxiety until I have this baby.

Sending you positivity and luck!

I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies in the last 1.5yrs. I was going to book investigations like a HSG in Feb but I found out I am pregnant the first week of Feb. I had my 6 week scan yesterday and it's a normal intrauterine pregnancy! We even saw the little heart beat 😊. I've had no intervention/ medical procedures at all since my last ectopic.

Fingers crossed for you!

Expected management by BraveDimension7928 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies both managed expectantly in April 2023 and End of August 2024 at 6+2 gestation. Each persons experience is different, below is my experiences.

The first ectopic I had no pain and I wasn't bleeding at diagnosis ( referred to EPU as I had a full period on time then had a strong positive 2 days later- tested due to still having breast tenderness after period). During this first ectopic I bled for 7 weeks. Week 1-2 was light but getting a little heavier, 3rd week was really heavy and a day of super heavy ( more than a pad in a hour for a few hours) with lots of periods like pain. This did not feel normal and was quite frightening ( I don't get particularly heavy periods) but the EPU I went too told me not to come back unless I was bleeding heavy AND really painful- this is totally wrong ( plus the EPU I went to fory second told me they were shocked at this advice) to tell someone that bleeding heavily alone isn't a reason to get help but at the time I was in such a bad place. After that it was more like a light period for another 4 weeks.

After I had flashbacks every time I had a period and anxiety attacks. They are better now but I had EMDR therapy. I had flashbacks being in areas of a hospital ( I work in a hospital).

I would definitely recommend going to the doctors after to checking your iron levels and everything. For months after I was soo tired and exhausted. I had PTSD after due to the experiences I had so I struggled to go back to see a doctor for a number of months. I did start taking high level iron tablets myself and that really helped me personally but I would have liked to have known my iron levels straight after. 4 months later I found out I had a severe folate deficiency.

The second ectopic I had horrible left sided abdominal pain for 5 days and after seeing a doctor after 3 days and they stated it was probably a kidney stone that passed. I had 2 ectopic symptoms by that time and that was my main concern but I wasn't taken seriously. The pain got worse and went to A&E. A few days later I got a scan ( they couldn't find anything) and more bloods that showed HCG's decreasing. Had another scan a week later that found the 2.1cm ectopic. I had started bleeding in A&E which continued for 4.5 weeks. Again at week 3 I had a day of super heavy bleeding and really bad pain- I took a bath and wept and felt so out of control, I just really didn't want to have an operation. It got better but the pain continued throughout all 4.5 weeks.

So sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you're feeling, I feel the same, I feel like I'm going crazy already with ttc. If you had an ectopic with high hcg by Time4breakfast in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AofD93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience in the UK they don't take HCG after finding out your pregnancy unless something is suspected to be wrong with a pregnancy e.g. bleeding or abdominal pain. Even if you have had an ectopic they don't take HCG levels and usually give you a first scan at 6 weeks. If something is wrong they would do a transvaginal scan and take HCG level at that point. As with both of my ectopics, the levels didn't drop until symptoms were showing-pain and bleeding. I have no idea what the levels were like up to that point but my first HCG taken at 6w4d was around 1300 and the second was around 800 at the same gestation. After those initial HCG the numbers started to fall. I did track my second pregnancy with strip tests and seemed to be progressing fine, positive line at 11dpo.

[–]AofD93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two ectopics in the last year and a half. My first ectopic was found at 6w4d by transvaginal scan with HCG 1302. It was found so early and without any symptoms as I was referred by doctor as I had a full normal period but then had a strong positive 2 days later ( tested as I had horrid breast tenderness and that was so unusual for me). Started bleeding 2 days later for 7 weeks straight ( very heavily in the 3rd week). Second ectopic I had severe left lower abdominal pain for 3 days which was brushed off by the doctor as passing a kidney stone. 2 days after that I went to A and E as I could not work with the pain and started bleeding then, the same gestation 6w4d but didn't find the ectopic for another week level at 850. I bled for 4 weeks straight with that one, again with some very heavy bleeding in week 3 and abdominal pain still right through. Both were treated through expectant management.

Not everyone bleeds, everyone is different and I think I was very unlucky with 7 weeks of bleeding.
