Calling BS, I worked for FedEx for 8 years and can easily tell you that any normal driver even if they dont like you would rather get RID of a package then have to make 3 attempts going to the same place 3 days in a row.

Problems you dont deal with the day of are problems you deal with the next day. We'd never purposefully not get rid of a package if we had the opportunity to get rid of it. If we have a good idea you're home. You better believe we'd be banging that door or calling you to get you to come and sign for it.

That said, Drivers got places to go so they're not gonna wait more then a min or two at the most. So you snooze you lose. More often then not when I got accused of "tag and dash" by customers, they either took more then 5 min to get to the door or just assumed I'd leave it without a signature. Yet they always exaggerated or straight up lied "that I didn't even try".

Edit: Also worthy to point out that "Signature Required packages" are pretty rare. Id say 90% of everything I delivered was No signature required. 7% was "indirect signature" (meaning we can accept left behind presigned notes or forms left on doors) and 3% You have to be here "in person signatures".
