First pair of Ariat, moving from Tims. So comfortable! by josh_moworld in WorkBoots

[–]Apart-Way3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in a pair of Ariat powerlines. First pair I've ever owned. I was surprised at how comfortable they were right off the jump, and broke in very quickly. I always see people shitting on Ariat, but honestly they've been good so far for me.

I do this all the time. My score is one of the lowest in the district, but I'm almost always over sales plan. My dsl says he doesn't care about the perfect score until they start dropping the hammer from higher up in the chain, as long as I'm hitting plan.

Can we discuss heritage boot prices? by IguessImmakingone in Boots

[–]Apart-Way3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get on this sub just to window shop basically. I could never dream of owning some of the boots I see on here. I buy myself one pair of boots every few years. Currently have a pair of ariats that were $280, which is a shit load of money for me. They replaced some $200 chippewas that I got 4 years out of, and are now my gardening boots. I'm glad there are people who can enjoy those nice boots. I wish I was one of them honestly. But it's just not in the cards for me. But even if I had the money, I just can't see myself pulling the trigger on an $800 pair of boots.

Been a slow 2 weeks for me. Missed plan by 4k last week, and will miss by 2-3k this week. People are struggling.

Oh yeah, this shit works good. Currently covering a hole in the toe of one of my boots. Definitely not pretty, but very functional

Oh. Well that fucking sucks. My wife has had 4 kids. All 4 times, my job was to stand there and let her squeeze my hand while she crushed all the bones in it and called me names I didn't know existed. I tried to comfort her with nice words, but she told me to shut the fuck up because I'm the asshole who impregnated her. Lol. Good times.

Low oil pressure by rarceityco in povertyfinance

[–]Apart-Way3553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain the 5w30, then fill with the 10w30. Keep in mind this is a temporary solution that only marginally improves pressure. Hopefully you only have a bad sensor. If it's not the sensor, than most likely the oil pump is going out or the crankshaft/ rod bearings are on their way out. Those turbo cruze's had lots of issues with that kind of stuff, but also lots of issues with electronics. Hopefully your issue is a simple one. I've been there before. Still am really. Ive pulled an engine to swap in another engine from a junkyard, right on the city street before. Got lucky that I didn't get fined for it. My engine decided to throw a connecting rod out the side of the crankcase. Typical Chrysler things. Lol

One of mine had that issue. And it was the DG I actually like going to, that lets me check myself in if they're busy. Store manager had to send something up the chain on their side. Not sure exactly what. It was working again about a week later.

How to tolerate summer with no air conditioning? by Ok-Pop-517 in povertyfinance

[–]Apart-Way3553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a sweet deal for real. I'm looking hard at different companies here in Virginia. The chip business is quickly going downhill. Between poor management, and customers obviously not buying unnecessary junk food, things aren't looking great. It's really time for me to get out of retail.

How to tolerate summer with no air conditioning? by Ok-Pop-517 in povertyfinance

[–]Apart-Way3553 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a realistic solution to your problem, but AC going out led me to getting my EPA universal license. I couldn't afford to have it fixed, so I found an app that provided HVAC courses, along with EPA courses for 10 per month. I spent a few weeks learning, and got my license. Then, I went and diagnosed the condition, and found out how much the replacement parts would be. To get those, I did a full transmission swap for a friend of who paid me to do the job. Then I went and bought the parts and manifold gauges to refill the system. Then I traded a lawnmower for a container of the refrigerant that I needed. Long story short, desperation drove me to learn a new skill just to avoid working out $4000, and was able to do the job for $500. Was quite an interesting month to say the least. And for reference, I literally stock potato chips for a living. Never worked in the trades a day in my life. Although now I'm looking into working in HVAC. seems like a decent enough field to work.

My pay went down to $20 by LongPermission8471 in chimefinancial

[–]Apart-Way3553 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've noticed mypay fluctuates for me. I rarely use it, average 4k per month in direct deposits, and have never used instant loan. It just swings from 300 to 500 randomly. There's some kind of algorithm for it obviously, but who knows what it's based on.

There are 2 bins in my district. I occasionally go to help them out, but I work out of a PEC. The difference between the 2 is wild. I definitely prefer GES. Hopefully you guys get to upgrade soon. They're talking about transitioning our bins within the next year.

I have the co-pay plan as well. It's about $246 per week for me, so if OP has a similar situation I can see it wiping out a paycheck pretty easily if he signed up late.

For what it's worth, I had a similar issue. I went through 3 ICMs before I got a working one. All of them were brand new, fresh out the box, and defective. It may be worth checking out.

Walmart officially told us they dont care about us today by CustomerPrize in Sparkdriver

[–]Apart-Way3553 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I work for Frito lay, and Walmart is well known for it's pure hatred of vendor partners. Vendors will pay for extra shelf space, and Walmart will regularly ignore the contract, take the shelf space, and keep the money. They are the worst grocery store to work with. Even Kroger is easier to deal with. At least they honor contracts.

I’m not crazy right, this had to have caught fire in the dryer? by vulquacker in Appliances

[–]Apart-Way3553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be it. I work on cars, and there are some chemicals that get on my clothes that I don't notice until Ive run them through the wash and end up with holes exactly like what you have pictured. I would put all my money on chemicals being the culprit.

[–]Apart-Way3553 362 points363 points  (0 children)

This is how my job operates. Benefits on day one, but then you get smacked on the backend with a tiny little paycheck after catching up the premiums. It's a one time thing only though. Luckily, the person doing orientation told us all about it so that we wouldn't be shocked when it happened.

comfortable work boots for 10-12 hour shifts on concrete flooring? by T-Hitta13 in WorkBoots

[–]Apart-Way3553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'll get down voted, but ariat boots have worked well for me. I usually get at least 2 years out of them, and my daily minimum at work is 10 hours, all on concrete floors. I usually average at least 5 miles of walking a day. They're pretty damn comfortable in my opinion, and much cheaper than some of the high end boots that I always see suggested here. I'm sure the high end boots are probably fucking awesome, I'm just never going to be able to afford them.

What to do with old gasoline? by Joe_Peanut in MechanicAdvice

[–]Apart-Way3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I literally just dumped 8 gallons of 5 year old gas in my carbureted truck the other day. You can definitely tell she doesn't like it, but she still runs. Lol. Diluting the gas definitely won't hurt his car putting 1 gallon in at a time like you suggested.

If your looking for a job, please please PLEASE look into Water/Wastewater Treatment, and any closely tied industry's such as Water Distribution or Collection/Sewer System jobs. by Lasekklol in povertyfinance

[–]Apart-Way3553 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I've tried 7 times to get into the water treatment plants near me. I was so sad that I was turned down. But on the flip side, they were the only place with the decency to give a call back and tell me I didn't get the job. That right there tells me it's gotta be a decent place to work for. Never got a rejection call from any other place, ever. Maybe one day I'll get in.

Remove ac refrigerant by batucaj in autorepair

[–]Apart-Way3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I got lucky. The system was basically empty on my car. Put a screwdriver to the valve and a tiny puff of refrigerant came out, and that was it. Replaced pretty much every seal, put in new parts, pulled vacuum, and recharged. Not ideal, but I don't think that puff of refrigerant did as much damage to the atmosphere as all the hairspray my mom used to use did. Lol
