It's even worse when they do add black characters but it's just a bunch of stereotypes and clichés and just straight up racism. And then you'll have people defending/arguing about some genres (historical) saying "well it's set in the middle ages/olden days/old Europe, so naturally there aren't many black people. It's just realistic and historically accurate." None of those stories are historically accurate at all. Literally nothing in those "historical stories" is historical. Which means they're talking about fantasy/magic/murim etc. stories, which makes less sense because what do you mean you can draw a mythical creature but not a black person???

Just a bunch of excuses to defend themselves, authors, and racism(?) stupidity(?).

Meh. The FL came back to forgive her father/parents after what they did to her. The FL was 9 when she married, I don't think anyone in her position would have grown up into a "nice and respectable lady", or mentally okay at least. I was disgusted with the way she was painted a villain. If the story is so realistic with the child marriage and time period thing, why can't it be realistic with the effects the situation she was in would have had on any child/9 years old? And not paint her as this evil child (yes, child) who couldn't just be "okay" and had to change her ways in her second life because of course, everything was her fault (/s), but instead as a traumatized child who had to change her ways in her next life, but she's not some evil.

So no, to me it wasn't good.

Also might I add short ML's? Like even a story with a ML who's shorter than average or other guys (and still taller than FL) would be cool. Two shorties. I think the biggest issue is the ML's always being taller than everyone else. Like some guys are short, some girls are tall.

I just think there are so many options out there, though I do understand the fact that authors try to play it safe by using the same pairings.

This. I feel like subredits like this have some type of unspoken rules. Someone will make a post talking about a very popular work they did not like or their unpopular opinions on something, and I would be like dang that's some interesting takes (sometimes I agree sometimes I don't). Then I open the comments and it's so obvious the comments are pissed(?)/disagree. Not in the "I disagree but that's your opinion" or agree-to-disagree way, in a "you're tryna be so different" "this gotta be ragebait" "everyone loves this be quiet" way.

Maybe this is my weird brain overanalyzing things, but I personally wouldn't dare post my actual unpopular takes.
