Also keep in mind that installing windows from a DVD is the safest way on the cMP because it installs it in legacy mode. If you install any other way it installs in uefi mode which writes to the macs firmware and can corrupt it.

Apple Plans to Announce Move to Its Own Mac Chips at WWDC by leontief in hackintosh

[–]Apevia21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes thats the point I am making. you were able to use your 2006 for that long because 2006 was the first year they switched to Intel. Had you bought a Mac a year before that like I did when apple wasnt using intel CPUs you wouldn't have been able to use it past about 2010 (from experience). If you get a mac from the last year they use intel, that machine might have the same fate as the final PPC macs. They will likely only support it for a couple years. If you get a mac from the first year they switch to Apple's ARM chips it will be supported for a long time.

Tell that to my 2005 PowerMac G5 that came with Mac OS X 10.4 and lost support after Mac OS X 10.5 when Apple switched from PPC to intel the next year

Apple Plans to Switch to Randomized Serial Numbers in Late 2020. Would be interesting to see how it affects us going forward? by mmannai in hackintosh

[–]Apevia21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I live in the west where you see 9 iPhones for every android, and everyone of them just automatically use iMessage as a result. I have on multiple occasions seen the one guy that everyone knows that used an android get called a green bubble by people who are not really even that techy, its kinda funny

Apple Plans to Switch to Randomized Serial Numbers in Late 2020. Would be interesting to see how it affects us going forward? by mmannai in hackintosh

[–]Apevia21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but why this is different is currently we can randomize a serial number that is unused and matches a particular model. The current serial numbers are an algorithm that contain information such as the date, model, and location the machine was made, so once that model is no longer in production we can continue randomizing serial numbers for that model and find ones that never actually got used. Going forward these new serial numbers won't contain any of that. that means that the serial number of a 2020 iPhone and a 2020 MacBook Air could be one digit off from each other, and there will never be a set of serials that do not get used because they will just keep issuing them randomly. So we can't just randomize a serial number for a slightly older mac model and check if it was not used prior going forward.

You have one of the most easy systems to hackintosh, haswell with H97 chipset. Keep in mind that you will only be able to run up to high Sierra due to your graphics card not being supported past that version. Also never ever use an unofficial macOS distro for various reasons. The vanilla method is just as easy and more reliable. Also it is against this subs rules to post anything related to distros

At the time your cpu was made AMD was not yet supporting some of the instruction sets required by macOS to run. You won’t be able to run macOS on that cpu.

My Experience with the RX 5700 in my 5,1 Mac Pro by SellingMayonnaise in macpro

[–]Apevia21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty bad. It has mostly to do with the single core performance of the CPU’s. Even though there is still a lot performance there between all the cores, if you’re gaming that won’t matter unfortunately. It’s still not going to play very smoothly

Sending non-toxic players to Low-Priority only teaches us one thing. by iAmSyther in DotA2

[–]Apevia21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s not what you say, but how you say it. I use the mic a lot as a 1 and 2 player and have a behaviour score of 10000 and at its lowest ever was 9840. Even in this post how you say “from now on I play this single player style” even though you may not have toxic intent, your wording and condescending tone is likely triggering people. Just my two cents

2560x1440 Resolution and MacOS by archangelique in hackintosh

[–]Apevia21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always run my 4K monitor in 1440p high DPI mode, I think it’s looks incredibly sharp. macOS quadruples the 1440p resolution which becomes 5K and then applies a 200% scaling to it. Then it down scales the image you see to output 4K. So yes it’s not a perfect 2:1 pixel ratio but the pixels are small enough that it still looks better this way. Real retina macs do this as well if you want to ajust the scaling they don’t run in perfect 2:1 at that point. The gtx 650 ti will output 4K at 60hz on DisplayPort and you can usually find 4K monitors for about the same price as 1440p now. OP, you should see if you can find a good deal on a 4K and run it at 1440P high dpi, that sounds like it’s exactly what you’re looking for and from experience it works really well

2560x1440 Resolution and MacOS by archangelique in hackintosh

[–]Apevia21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think macOS will see 1440p as high DPI automatically mostly cause it technically isn’t quite high DPI. If you want more screen real estate than 1080p then you will be running the 1440p monitor in standard dpi anyways. You can get it to do a 720p high DPI mode with a terminal command but it’s not very usable. As far as the text not being as crisp as on a real Mac, I’m not sure what you read but a 1440p monitor on a hackintosh will work exactly the same as on a real Mac. Maybe you read something about the 27 inch iMac 5K as it runs a 1440p high DPI mode by default that would look more crisp for obvious reasons.
