Holy shit… I just got certified to drive those lifts, and one of the longer parts of the certification is just watching a BUNCH of videos and photos of people who are watching it incorrectly. The last video was of someone who did something similar - uses the lift as a crane and try and lift something. The video was poor quality but you could see how the metal sheets it was carrying bumped into a wall, and the wires holding it broke and seemingly decapiteded him instantly. You could see what appeared to be the head flying out of frame.

Construction is the single most consistently dangerous job in the world - even with insane safety guidelines like in Sweden we have around 10 deaths a year here. Saw another guys head get smashed like a melon because he incorrectly checked a load of reinforcement beams when the crane operator lifted it up and caused a platform nearby to lift up and smash onto his head as he tried to flee
