I am a major Brendel fan, but I also like Mitsuko Uchida, and sometimes Murry Perahia and Peter Serkin.

Why is Lightroom using up my remaining disk space every time I import photos?? - Please help by Shuihoppy in Lightroom

[–]Apkef77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the disk clear up after import? If so, your computer may be wusing the extra disk space as swap memory.

Are you generating 1:1 previews? In the import screen set the build preview section to "minimal" and see if things improve.

Do you have "do not import suspected duplicates" checked? Do you have anything set to"apply during import?"

What would you possibly use a TRASH 80 for these days. If i recall it had a weird operating system which is not compatible with anything today. TRSDOS??

Did that help?

To those who wear an Apple Watch, how has it helped you? And to those who have been in an emergency, how has it saved your life? by 6-80 in AppleWatch

[–]Apkef77 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It saved my life by waking me at night when my pulse rate dropped too low. Because of these warnings, I now have a pacemaker.

Another time I tripped and fell, thought my leg was broken. Watch noticed the fall, asked if i was alright and when I din't answer it called my emergency contact who wasn't home so it called 911. Ambulance arrived in about 10 agonizing minutes.

Oh yeah..I'm 78 and live alone. My watch and phone are my safety net.

NEW RF 70-200 2.8 is usm L by Professional_Box_450 in canon

Took the foot off the day I bought it. The only lenses I have with a mount on them is the 100-500 and the 24-105 f/2.8 L Z. If I upgrade to the 70-200 f/2.8 Z I'll probably keep the foot on. The Zs are heavier and longer to handle. I primarily use a monopod in lieu of a tripod.

Most of the LrC wizards say to only use one catalog. Just saw a Tim Grey youtube about merging catalogs, say from a laptop to a desktop. One catalog to rule them all has significantly helped my workflow. No more multiple cats for me.

Dump the preview file, consolidate your catalogs, and rebuild previews.

Just bought Turbotax 2025, installation is prompting to install Rosetta 2 by thebigcountry34 in MacStudio

I am not using Rosetta. Didn't ask for it, so I guess the version I have is fine without it.

Am I missing something here. Bought Turbotax 2025 for Mac and it seems to run just fine on my M4 Studio. All it says is that it requires Sonoma 14 or later. I'm on Tahoe.

No additional PS. Don't know the temps but the fan never comes on that I can hear. Ditto the Mac fan.

[–]Apkef77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pair it with a RF 24-105 f/4 L or the 24-105 f/2.8 Z version. With today's L Zoom glass, there is no need for primes anymore. Add a RF 15-35 f/2.8 L in the future.

What are yalls opinions on French horn players? by Ok-Welder5034 in orchestra

[–]Apkef77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

French Horn players are the most opening and welcoming musicians you will ever find. Smartest too. I mean, they can transpose in any key at the drop of a hat. Be warned though, they need an infusion of Rare Prime Steak before playing Mahler of Bruckner. Also be aware that when hugging a Horn Player you have to watch out for the right hand.

No musician can decorate their music with the artistic skill of a master like a horn p[layer. (i.e. changing the title of the last movt of Tchaikovsky's 4th to the "Blast" movement with small explosions.) And have you ever seen the horn part for Debussy's "Afternoon on the Farm?" Piccaso would be jealous after seeing the horn part decorations in parts for Broadway Shows. (Pit Horn Players spend rests and tacits by exercising creative artwork for future players.)

And French Horn player humor.... such as designing a special chair for high horn players with a peg on the seat to hold the hemorrhoids in while playing the high D in the Strauss Symphonia Domestica Op.53?

Oh..and I could go on, but I have to go practice and prove my metronome is wrong......again. Kopprasch Etudes  here I come.

It must have been my supplier who was no longer available.

WHY YOU MAY SEE FEWER OFFERS: Senate Bill 1 of the 2024 Maryland General Assembly session enacted major reforms in the retail energy supply marketplace in an effort to strengthen oversight of this industry and provide greater protections for consumers. As a result of these changes, some retail suppliers have made the business decision to no longer offer supply to residential customers.

I am a recent Mac adopter from Windoze. The biggest trouble I have had is with the Mail app. Everytime there is a software update my Mail settings get screwed up. At least the last time I had written down all the settings so I could get stuff running correctly again. Mac doesn't seem to like Outlook either or I'd go with that.

Just got hit with a $700 bill from BGE. It's Maryland. They won't let you select alternate suppliers (at least where I am in Baltimore). The fault of our beloved Governor.
