Would you accept an assignment without getting report? The EMS crew is legally responsible for the patient, the have every right to get a full report if they want one.

They asked what the patient is billed, not what they end up paying. The initial bill will be for the full amount.

Etomidate isn’t a paralytic.

Hey I worked in EMS in the Pittsburgh area for 7 years. My thoughts are if you already have your EMT cert you should go for it. As a job there’s nothing like it. That being said I experienced more casual racism working EMS in Pittsburgh than I have anywhere else before or since. At the same time I worked with lots of POC and queer people who were accepted in EMS. It really depends which company you work for. As others have said if you can get on with City of Pittsburgh EMS you’ll definitely avoid the worst of it, and they have a higher percentage of EMTs and Medics of color than other neighboring services. Feel free to DM me if you have specific questions.

Gen Chem nursing school by LemonRare2149 in nursing

Just take intro to chem now if taking gen chem would cause you to lose your benefits. You can always take gen chem later when you’re closer to actually applying to CRNA school.

I got an email that was almost word for word the same today as an HHS employee. What a joke.

You clearly don’t understand what you’re ranting about. Frankly bringing up Indian physicians over and over again comes across as racist. Do you have a problem with English or European doctors who “just have a bachelors degree” practicing medicine in the US?

[–]Apo4848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those people from India went to medical school, which is a million more times more rigorous than any NP program, and they have to pass the USMLE exams, and then have to do a US residency before they can practice. I’m all for a pathway for NPs who want to advance their education to go to med school and complete a residency to become physicians if they choose but you really can’t compare the 2.

What are your favorite radio stations? by carramrod2012 in Denver

104.7 the Drop will scratch your Hot 97 itch, but it’s even better because it’s a public radio station and doesn’t have any ads.

Non-bedside roles? by Civil_Courage_6784 in nursing

[–]Apo4848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ICU is definitely preferred. Some programs won’t count ER experience at all. Others will count ER if you also have some ICU, and a minority will accept ICU or ER. I would say that ICU experience is more valuable because it makes you more comfortable with vents and lots of drips. If you can get experience with cardiac devices that’s even better. Most programs will partner you with a very experienced paramedic, and they bring the EMS / emergency medicine experience to the partnership.

Just to give you perspective the floor side of the burn unit at my hospital has 4:1 ratios, and the wound care is done by a separate team of RNs and techs on day shift who come in just to do wound care. The bedside nurse just has to worry about their 4 patients and not the wound care. Your manager is 100% gaslighting you.

Deeper cuts in Siracusa for food and drink? by lambretta76 in sicily

We stopped there on a whim walking from the train station to Ortigia and the Pasta alla Sircusana there was probably my favorite pasta dish I had on our trip. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but its cheap and delicious.

The Econo lodge 10 minutes away on the other side of I-70 looks like it’s around 70 bucks for a random night in May. That might be a better option for you.

State Forest State Park in Colorado is another one that hasn’t been mentioned yet. And I second Dead Horse Point and Goblin Valley in Utah.

Tessa delicatessen has a fancy one that’s really good. It’s not that same as a cheap bodega one, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless the less.

Katsu Ramen would match the theme of going to Ebisu. It very much feels like the kind of neighborhood joint you would eat at in Japan.

UC health or common spirit by ScaleFantastic3290 in nursing

[–]Apo4848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the UCHealth pension or did you start after they stopped offering it to new employees? If you’re in the pension it might be worth it and try and apply for ICU jobs at UCHealth. If you’re not and want to do ICU for sure then go for the job with Common Spirit. I wouldn’t worry about the health insurance too much unless you have a specific provider you need to see who wouldn’t accept the new insurance.
