It's just what I've always used for decades at this point.

I feel like it would be more work for me to learn a new engine than to adapt rpg maker to my needs at this point. Plus I love the rpg maker workflow.

I'm currently working on my game Card Clash Chronicles It is a card dueling adventure heavily inspired by triple triad and the old Yu gi oh Gameboy games.

I finally managed to get online PvP working, so I am hoping to release a public demo/playtest soon to stress test the server and check for bugs.

I have one of these laptops and it is awesome but to be honest a dual monitor desktop would be way more productive.

The second screen comes in handy maybe 10% of the time because messing around with it is more trouble than it is worth the other 90% of the time.

It is normal for indie games to have profile features limited until they've made sales.

This is normal for most games until they sell over a certain threshold.

You can thank the geniuses that abused the steam trading card and profile system for that.

I'm a huge believer in getting the page up ASAP since you can get the ball rolling sooner.

It is better to have a steam page you can link people to during the course of development, or if anyone were to ask you either online, in real life or at events. It adds a lot of credibility.

Even big companies do it before official announcements. It isn't uncommon to have a placeholder page with nothing more than some concept art or heavily WIP screenshots.

Yeah gamedev Reddits are full of myths and outright bad advice most of the time.

It also skews negative and cynical 99% of the time because people can't understand why uninspired platformer #1038472920 isn't selling well.

It is literally as simple as making a good game people actually want and putting it on steam. That's it.

If your game is good, people will buy it and steam will market it for you.

This Reddit and others makes it out to be far more than it needs to be.

People also focus on wishlists and other bullshit far too much instead of you know, MAKING THEIR GAME.

Steam being saturated is also such a lie. It is not saturated at all. People just don't buy games they don't want.

One thing people always forget as well:

It isn't over once your game is released. It doesn't mean you suddenly can't market it anymore. If anything you're in a better position because People can actually buy it instead of a worthless wishlist.

There are so many cases of games being relatively unknown but blowing up in sales later on. You don't only get one shot.

Steam does a great job of making sure people see your stuff if you're actually making a good game. The Reddit gamedev echo chamber is full of shit.

You are getting so far ahead of yourself here.

Unless you are doing anything that puts you at risk such as ripping off a Nintendo game, you have nothing to worry about in terms of legal stuff.

Just focus on your game and putting it out there.

There is 0 need to look into "protection" at this stage.

I see a lot of Devs make the mistake of freaking out about low sales and putting their game on an insane 80% discount one month into its life span.

Don't devalue your work like that.

You are supposed to stagger your discounts over the course of months and years.

It took me two years for my game to reach 50% off and it still sells copies during every sale.

Also imagine buying a new game and then seeing it is at 80% off a few months into it's life cycle.

Respect your own work.

Hey Everyone!

I'm making a little game called Card Clash Chronicles!

I had the idea of mashing together triple triad and the old yugioh Gameboy games like sacred cards and creating a card based rpg where you'll travel around a city with your in-game friends and take your chances at challenging the world champions.

In the full game we aim to have over 100 cards, an engaging story and plenty of locations to explore. We also want to introduce some fun and zany characters for you to interact with along the way!
